epepepep 0 #1 May 16, 2003 Ok, so I'm looking for some art for my walls, but haven't found anything great, yet. So, I'm turning to my brothers and sisters. Where can I find good paintings, sketches and the like to adorn my walls? I'm not really interested in photos, and not the successories "Teamwork" or similar posters. I really love the 3 sketches at the top of Pat and Jan Works webpage: http://www.cs.fiu.edu/~esj/uwf/works.html If I could get full size replicas of those, I would be set. Any ideas? Thanks! ep
Yoshi 0 #2 May 16, 2003 I actually have a fine art degree and I do paintings (mostly oil) and mixed media works influenced by skydiving. I have shown in a couple galleries her in the indianaopolis area (including lamp, green gallery, n-style, nikky blaine's (martini bar) and the stutz building. Although my works may be a little more costly than a poster, it may be jsut what you are looking for to adorn those blank walls. email me if you want more info (just to give you an idea the prices range from $100-$3500) depending on size and my own attachment to the pieces... -yoshi_________________________________________ this space for rent. trigger 0 #7 May 16, 2003 Stuckist.I'll try and explain.Don't know if you've heard of Billy Childish[Tracy emmins ex]fronts a band called the "Headhunters".Well i mention Billy because STUCKISM is basically his idea,in fact he's famed for it.He's an artist who refuses to profit from his work, does everything for himself[That includes cutting 80+ records]Though work is displayed none of it is for sale at any price..Basically a STUCKIST prefers to work in a state of self induced poverty[maybe for inspiration].My definition of the word stuckist could be wrong but thats how i understand it!possibly meeting up with some artist friends tonight,i'll PM you if you like if i get a better definition....What art school did you stay away from... .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER. Yoshi 0 #11 May 16, 2003 I went to herron school of art in indianapolis, in. its in the top 10 for the nation, but isnt very well know.. my major was photo, but I mostly paint and sculpt now... I have also done a handfull of furnature design...ever get a chance to come out to richmond and see the coffee table at my brothers house (next door to the airport) its pretty cool if I may say so myself. as far as a stuckist.. not me I would like to profit from it when possible..msot of my stuff kind of resembles jean michelle basquiat's work (my favorite artist) for those of you who dont know who he is: he was andy worhalls buddy, worked in his "factory" and even dated madona for a little while.. as most famous artist he is now dead from a heroin overdose... (not the road I forsee for myself)... anyways thats my little blurb...if you want to see what kind of work i do look up basquiat's work and it is very similar...accept mine sell for less than a 10th of the price!!!! -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent. Yoshi 0 #15 May 16, 2003 basquiat isnt quite pop, but it is in a way (mostly because of the time frame he was making art). Roy Litch.. pretty cool stuff... have you ever hear of T.O.D.T? I think they are german, but a really cool group of artists that collaborate on stuff that is out of this world.. -yoshi_________________________________________ this space for rent.
