mccordia 74 #1 June 2, 2003 Acualy...IT WAS ME WHO DID IT! I made my 200th jump this sunday (morning) and decided to do a staticline-jump again....for old times sake :) I only did about 5 or 6 staticline jumps about 2 years ago, and it was SOOO cool to sort of relive that this way.. Flying a 280 sq-ft canopy instead of the 190 sq-ft I normaly use was waaaayyy fun... I did some front/backriser turns, stalled it (had to wrap the break lines around my hand a few times to acomplish this:) and did some crazy flying. Everybody at the airport knew about it, but the manifest decided not to tell the guys on the DZ (our DZ is about 1 km from the airport/hangar). They thought I was a S/L student doing my 2nd jump or so, and nearly suffered a heart-attack because of the sh*t they saw me do (up high:) They had a realy good laugh when they realised (and heard:) it was me when I turned onto final... I had a landing in the peas (directly on the old sweater we always use as a center:) and have a dirty smile on my face that aint easy to whipe off..:) The fact that I made 15 jumps on 3 different dropzones (Rotterdam, Texel, Flevo:) the past 4 days also helps with the smile ofcource..JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? masher 1 #2 June 2, 2003 static line jumps are fun. If I'm at the DZ when they have some new S/L students, they sometimes get me to do the canopy control demonstration. Up I go and do a S/L jump and get talked down by radio. It's all good. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
Unstable 9 #3 June 2, 2003 Hey, i also did a SL jump today, I haven't done one of those in about 9 months. It was A Mr. Bill, and the monkey holding on to me climbed up and sat on my shoulders. sds=========Shaun ==========
Yoshi 0 #4 June 2, 2003 I put out my first (yes beer) static liners this weekend. it was really fun. On sat I taught the fjc and then on sunday (since the weather was jumpable) I stated working on my proficiency fard for the s/l rating. It was great to see the s/l ers faces when they got out on the strut.. (not to mention the instructor that went with me to oversee the operations) when he took the "students" role and completely screwed up (on purpose...at least I hope) and had me regergitate everything he did once on the ground... had a blast and cant wait to get my "I" !!! -yoshi_________________________________________ this space for rent. dragon2 2 #6 June 2, 2003 I did a SL for my 300th jump a couple of weeks ago... Was thinking about what to do, didn't really have anybody to jump with cause there was a competition going on and everybody was busy. Then somebody suggested a SL jump. Put myself on the next load, grabbed a rig. Got checked, was standing around with 2 'real' students. Instructor: did you get a briefing? Students: yes. Me: no! Instructor: Take care of yourself!! Not very nice I was actually a tiny bit nervous, kept checking my handles and found one missing . The JM got the 2 students out: first guy: ready, go. Second guy: ready, go. Then it was my turn: SCRAM!!!!!! The FS team from another DZ that was also in the plane sorta looked like this: It was the best SL exit I ever did (only took me 300 jumps!!!). Had 2 linetwist on my manta, for the full SL experience... Checked my canopy, and some more canopy and boy is this a large canopy Played around under canopy, but the frontrisers made the canopy go all mushy and I had to make sure I didn't blow away... Landed where I was supposed to, and felt really amazed that I ever had trouble standing up landings consistently underneath this canopy. Later that day the FS team grabbed me (turned out there were 2 assistance-instructors on the team) when they saw me walking around with my own (pretty small) rig on Well, good catch, if I'd been a student..... ciel bleu, Saskia
