jumprunner 0 #1 June 4, 2003 Anyone who has done this before, do you feel an intense "falling rush"? ie how does this compare to going down in a roller coaster? More/ less intense?
Unstable 9 #2 June 5, 2003 You can experience it pretty easily at your home DZ. Do a Mr. Bill with you being the Bill, Sit on the Bitches shoulders, and roll off when he stalls....... I've only been the bitch, but i'll find out soon!! sds=========Shaun ==========
skymama 37 #3 June 5, 2003 Well, I jumped out of a helicopter which is similar to jumping off a balloon since it was stationary. The whole jump was very rushed (thanks to skydiverbrian and kevin922!) so I didn't even think about how it might feel differently, I was more concerned about falling out of the damn helicopter that had no door! So, I went out on my back and I screamed right away because I was so totally not used to the feeling of falling that I got. I immediately went to a sit where I was more comfortable. But, as soon as I got another chance, I did it again because it's really cool! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
Zenister 0 #4 June 5, 2003 Quote You can experience it pretty easily at your home DZ. well HE cant...since he hasnt found the balls to hop out of the plane with a parachute on his back yet... if/when he does and gets his B he can find out what a balloon is like for himself, every morning and evening at Eloy until it gets too hot...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. CDRINF 1 #5 June 5, 2003 I did a balloon jump a year ago. Scariest jump I ever made. Something about the dead silence and no engine sound is unnerving. You do get a bit of the "bottom dropped out" feeling but not like when you are being slung around on a roller coaster. Biggest thing I was surprised by was the slow build up of the sound of the rushing air. Pretty cool actually. Funny thing was I remember standing on the edge of the basket, staring over the edge and was getting that "little kid on the high dive" feeling and thinking, "gee what if something happens, what if I fall, what if........wait a minute, I've got a friggin' parachute on my back." I highly recommend it! CDR
Amazon 7 #6 June 5, 2003 The thing that freaked me the most on the first balloon jump was I pushed off with my feet and it seemed to kick it back and I went into total instability with none of my control surfaces working till I built up some speed. Second jump I just dove off without pushing.. stayed stable and had a blast. But you do get that tummy bump when you leave... Amazon

Guess what? I can find a thousand people a day that dont have the balls to jump a first tandem. Or hang on a wing strut. So exactly what is your point? That anyone who doesnt want to skydive is a coward? I think that is what youre trying to say. Whatever the case is, Im not trying to "prove" anything by jumping, other than getting into an arial sport to some extent and getting the thrill of it. I dont need to jump out of airplanes to prove Im a man cause Im already secure enough in that area, so Ill leave the "macho" shit to you since you seem to be doing it for that purpose. Good luck. But what youre saying is its not as intense as a rollercoaster? Im kind of wondering how long it lasts, ie from a balloon. From a helicopter, well youre acutally being pushed down in addition to falling. I wouldnt scream cause Im a guy, maybe yell. Then say "fuuuuuuckk!!!!"
