skyejumper 0 #1 June 16, 2003 I'm a freeflier who is interested in trying skysurfing, however, I'm a little concerned about the safety issue. Could any skysurfers out there tell me how much more dangerous things are when you strap on a board, and what malfunctions can occur and ways to avoid them? I know a couple of guys with WAY more jumps than me who have had to cut away their board. I can sit, stand and fly headdown well. Thanks! You got Scott Smith and Craig O'Brian right on your doorstep! They do the starter school for $150, which will include free use of the Beginner board for as long as you need before moving up onto the intermediate board. If you just want to find out some more about skysurf before you commit to anything then Scott has a pretty good Vid that he's made explaining all the basics, just ask to borrow it and then find one of the team rooms that you can chill in and watch it. There are more things to think about, and when you strap the board to your feet then you do increase the risk of bad stuff happening on the skydive, but ground school gives you the knowledge, and then it's down to you to make those lessons as ingrained as part of your normal emergency procedures.
