Tandem Question

Recommended Posts

I did my first tandem jump, and it was so awesome!I really wasen't scared at all.I did have one curious problem though. When we were under canopy, I began to feel sort of weak and a little lightheaded. When we landed, my legs wouldn't hold me up! Somebody mentioned something about the leg straps cutting off circulation, has anybody heard of this?Would maybe breathing really deeply help? Thanks!

Yeah, it can happen. Not just the leg straps but some of the other straps can restrict circulation. Not to mention the nice rush of adrenilin you get.

Your best bet would be to go back to the DZ and talk to the instructor you jumped with, he/she will be able to explain AND show you how that can happen. After talking to him/her about it, go do another jump. B|

better yet, go back to the DZ and sign up for your first jump course. Have some real fun with accelerated free fall program! :)

Another possible explanation for light-headedness is low blood sugar. All that adrenaline coursing through your veins burns up blood sugar pretty quickly. If you arrived at the airport with low blood sugar (i.e. skipped breakfast) then there is little sugar left in your blood after opening.
Hint, next time do everyone a favor by eating a light lunch before skydiving.

Yep. DO that. Solo rigs sit you in a better position under canopy -- one that won't restrict circulation.:)
