billvon 3,116 #1 July 7, 2003 Has anyone had any luck getting their hands on a United Airlines letter that says parachutes are OK as carryon? I'm flying them to crosskeys this week.
PhillyKev 0 #2 July 7, 2003 Yep...I got one from USPA before flying to Perris in February. Sorry, misplaced it. But if you call or email them, they should be able to send it to you. There was a thread where this was discussed before and a couple people posted scans of letters, not sure if United was included. When are you going to be there? I owe you a beer. airtwardo 7 #4 July 7, 2003 Bill- United is really the only airline I've ever had problems with... What I do is to get the letter of explanation through USPA. Then arrive early, show the USPA paper, get a letter from a United supervisor...have both in hand at security and gate check-in. Then smile and pray! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
fundgh 0 #5 July 7, 2003 Who did you contact...the list is long and I don't even know where to begin. I am looking to obtain any travel documentation available. I am flying to North Carolina on Delta next week....FUN FOR ALL!
PhillyKev 0 #6 July 7, 2003 Don't remember specifically. Emailed someone. Try FAA issues on http://www.uspa.org/contact/index.htm. I'm sure if they aren't the right person, they'll direct you to the whomever is.
quade 4 #7 July 7, 2003 Ya know, this comes up often enough that you'd think somebody would care enough to collect all this stuff and put it in one central place. I think that would be an excellent job for and use of the USPA don't you?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
PhillyKev 0 #8 July 7, 2003 They have the docs and info and will send it to you if you ask. It would be nice if they would post them on the website but they'd probably need to get permission from the airlines first.
airtwardo 7 #9 July 7, 2003 You know...couple hunert years ago... USPA had a card with all the airlines policies listed on it with the 800 #'s to contact for that airline. I guess policies change so often they couldn't keep up ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
