fundgh 0 #2 July 7, 2003 YEah! And is anybody giving one in central California any time soon? Does anybody need water training and want to be a part of one if it gets organized?...FUN FOR ALL!
skybytch 273 #3 July 7, 2003 I believe that the person instructing live water training must also be rated to sign off the training on the B license application. So my guess would be someone with at least an I rating. But I couldn't find any specific rating requirements for the instructor in the SIM. I did find this in Section 6-B - Quote3. Safety personnel should include properly trained and certified lifeguards. a. If suitably qualified skydivers are not available, assistance may normally be solicited from the local American Red Cross or other recognized training organization. b. Flotation gear and other lifesaving apparatus is recommended for non-swimmers. c. Persons conducting this training need to consider the safety of the participants. tombuch 0 #5 July 7, 2003 QuoteWhat qualifications/certifications must a person have to instruct live water training to certify B license candidates? Check the 2003 SIM, page 12, section 3-1 (USPA Licenses), subsections "C" and "D." I believe the water training is a skill requirement, so it needs to be signed by a USPA Instructor, I/E, S&TA, or BOD member. The completed application also needs to be signed by one of those officials. The water training should be conducted by an instructor, an S&TA or BOD member, or under the supervision of one of those officials. The person who conducts or supervises the training is probably the easiest person to get the signature from. You will find a very quick reference to the requirement for the trainer on page 125 of the SIM under the bold heading "Why Jump In The Water," section 6, as well as the bold heading "Wet (practical training)," number 6(a).
