storm1977 0 #26 August 3, 2003 You are completely right Kev. When it comes to thing like this people tend to get a bit angry and start ranting about their rights. But, the truth is that flying is not a right, driving is not a right they are infact privledges. If one agrees to fly, then they need to know that they, or their belongings may be scrutinized. If you don't like it, don't fly. However, if the TSA shoves a probe up your ass looking for bombs, well then, there could be a "RIGHTS" problem. What do you suppose would happen if they found something illegal, yet didn't pose a threat to passengers (like a bag of pot or something of that nature)? Not that I would ever be so stupid as to actually put that in my luggage, but you have to wonder...? ------------------------------------------------------------ He had his pot wrapped in tin foil in his pocket and set off the medal detector. matttrudeau 0 #28 August 3, 2003 Most of the time when I travel with my rig everything is fine. There was one time flying out of Melbourne, Florida where I had all my carry on luggage opened and inspected, except for my parachute. They asked me I could open that too and I said no. If you play dumb and answer with very short yes and no responses you'll be better off. If you start talking and describing all the gear it will just make things worse. I will always carry my rig on the airplane. Thank god for the USPA! Just remember to remove your hook knife. I forgot to remove it once but it went through the scanners! I got on the airplane and realized what I had done. Oh well! Remember to keep your mouth shut and don't give them any more reason to scrutinize you! They're just trying to let you hang yourself. Zenister 0 #29 August 3, 2003 ive noticed its much worse (more intrusive) at the smaller less active airports (like Melbourne wave at all 'my' radar birds next time your there just like small town cops, the less they have to keep them busy the more they pick on the 'work' they do get..
