jumper03 0 #1 August 10, 2003 I had a bunch all rolled into one yesterday! I bought my first rig - used of course. A PD 230 main in a Javelin with a Raven reserve and cypress at a damn good deal. I'd jumped it several times the last jumpable weekend (shit weather here in New England...) to make sure it was what I wanted and would fit me etc. It just had the reserve repacked so yesterday was the first jump after the repack and the first jump with me as the owner. Skydive went great - practicing turning with just my knees - wave, pull at 3,500 and I'm watching the thing open and thinking, this is taking a long time..... The lines are a mess and the slider starts to come down - uh oh - the right front riser lines are through and around the left rear riser lines.... The slider hits the tangle, stops and there's no way I can kick out of this. About that time, it starts to spin hard and it's bye-bye Mr. PD, Hello Mr. Raven. So I get my first cut-away and first reserve ride as well. It was also the first reserve ride on the rig. My first reaction - DAMN!! I can't jump anymore today unless I rent or borrow - I just bought a rig so I wouldn't have to do that!!!!
