I can't speak for your experiences with the man, but I have found Helmut to be a very nice and accomadating man. People have some trouble overcoming the language barrier, but from personal experience, patience, and repition does just that. Quote Has anyone ever been told that thier cypress needs to be replaced or fixed when you had it sent back for any of it's 2yr,4yr,8yr checks? Yes, and so have some of my customers. They perform this service at no charge. Betcha Cessna, Lycoming, or any other aircraft parts manufacturer wouldn't. What's your point? QuoteHow many PPL receved some one elses Cypress when they sent thiers in for a check? Never had this problem. Have you? QuoteHow many PPL even know for sure they have thier origanal Cypress that they bought or did your rigger just not check or tell you? I have the correct cypres units in my rigs. Has this happened to you? Are you suggesting that this occurs frequently? If so when? And why would anyone keep using a rigger that does not pay attention to detail. Check your own shit. It's only your life you're dealing with. I hope you are trying to educate, but I fear you too are just stiring the pot to get attention. IMO AirTec (and SSK) is a reputable company with the welfare of skydivers world wide in mind. What's your angle?---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
PhreeZone 20 #52 August 15, 2003 Your rigger should do the 2 year battery swap, SSK should'nt have to touch it at that point. Living only an hour from SSK is nice since I can have my rigger pop in and talk to them anytime we have questions. Cliff should be able to answer any questions you have. He's always been able to get me an answer that makes me satisfied. SSK takes extra measures to make sure that units are not mixed up in the testing process. Its not unheard of, but extremely rare. And I have seen units need major work at their maintence window due to abuse (broken cables, cracked housings) and they don't charge extra for it. Units that get wet *cough*pond swoops gone bad*cough* and are totally ruined are special cases AFAIK.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

I try not to voice my opinion in regards to this subject as not to "stir the pot" I just didn't like it when some one is not alowed to express thier opinion freely. And with that said this will be my last post on this topic. Unless some one is not alowed to express thier opinion openly. QuoteIMO AirTec (and SSK) is a reputable company with the welfare of skydivers world wide in mind. What's your angle? I have nothing bad to say about the people at SSK as I have never talked to them. I have no angel just an opinion. PhreeZone They might be giving more effort thies days to make sure the right one gets back to the right person I don't know. I was only talking about the 4yr 8yr check (sorry for the typo) and if the electronice go bad just beause . I know ppl can do some bad damage to thier eqp. I'm out-------------------------------------------------------- Some one must go to the edge for others to be able to find it. But if you go be sure you can make it back. tbrown 26 #54 August 17, 2003 QuoteDo you ever read the fatality reports in Parchutist? 3 out of 4 deaths are people who have AAD's. I found that interesting....most people fuck up on landings (myself included). Well that's the new way we're killing ourselves these days. Bill Booth's even proposed a 2nd Booth's Law, that skydivers will find new ways to maintain the fatality rate when the old ways don't kill as many people as they used to (I'm paraphrasing - hope I got that right Bill). All I remember from the old days is how many reports on the "sports page" (as we called it) in Parachutist used to have the comment, "an automatic opening device on the reserve parachute might have prevented this fatality". Maybe twenty years from now there will be something that inflates your jumpsuit like the Michelin man if you hook it below 200 ft, who knows ? If they do and I'm still jumping, I might even buy one... Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !
