casey 0 #1 August 24, 2003 Hi all, My husband and I (both skydivers) are going to be moving to the Ft. Myers area of Florida in about a month, we are coming from South Africa. We were wondering what dropzones are nearby. We visited in that area about 1 1/2 years ago and accidentally ran into a travelling dropzone that ran out of Naples. I think the people's names were Mary and Stewart. Does anyone know how to contact them, or if they are still operating, or if there are any other nice dropzones that aren't a huge drive from Ft. Myers???

Blahr 0 #4 August 24, 2003 These 2 are about the closest being about the same distance http://www.floridaskydiving.com http://www.skydivetampa.com About 80 miles approx. from Ft. Myers Dont know what you consider a huge drive but I'd guess these 2 are about 90 minutes Z-Hills is next closest after those two http://www.skydivecity.com About 100 miles from Ft. Myers PS. These milage figures are very rough estimates made by eye looking at a map of Florida I dont know anything about any traveling drop zones

jmpnkramer 0 #6 August 24, 2003 Here is a reply from someone who lives here. The last I heard Naples was having issues. I personally never got down there as I was injured at the time it was running. Mary & Stewart did lose the rights to bthe DZ. Someone else took it iover for a bit but I believe it fell through. Skydive Tampa Bay is a smaller DZ. I have not ben there but heard it is pretty nice. Lake Wales & Z-Hills will probably take about the same amount of driving time because of the location. I believe Lake Wales might take a little longer. It's location requires many traffic lights and small towns once you get off the interstate. Of course I am going to favor Z-Hills because it is my home DZ. We have many friendly laid back individuals. There are several organizers for all skill levels and types of jumps. When are you moving? I would be glad to show you around the Hill. Ya'll can PM me for my number. Laters, Keith (KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)The REAL KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER! "HESITATION CAUSES DEATH!!!" FLsurfer 0 #7 August 25, 2003 Like stated above, check out Clewiston. I used to jump there all the time before I moved down here to PR to work at the dz. Very nice people and a pretty laid back dz in Clewiston. Problems just be opportunities in der workin' clothes.
Stacy 0 #8 August 25, 2003 I would also be willing to meet you at the Hills. That's my favorite FL DZ, although it takes me a good 3.5 hours to get there frm West Palm. Well worth the drive! great people, never a dull moment, and the swoop pond provides hours on end of endless entertainment. Organizers are great, I've beat one in particular in the face with my altimeter and he still lets me jump with him. __
