Cornholio 0 #1 August 25, 2003 Have you ever wondered where this hand signal comes from ? Who came up with this ? Did it originate from "Pull my finger" (I'm going to fart) or how does it get to mean "PULL NOW" ? Or does the single finger have some other meaning ? Enquiring minds want to know. Butthead: Whoa! usedtajump 1 #2 August 25, 2003 I'm 58 years old and ever since I can remember it ment "pull my finger and I'll fart." Yeah, I am an AFF instructor and it meant fart long before AFFThe older I get the less I care who I piss off.
tombuch 0 #3 August 25, 2003 When I earned my AFF instructor rating I was taught to position the pointing finger within sight of the student, then move the finger to point to the ripcord. So. it's not a "pull my finger," but rather a finger pointing to direct an action. Tom Buchanan Instructor (AFF, SL, IAD, Tandem) Author JUMP! It's too bad that in real life that doesn't work. It's usually the pull signal.. perhaps a tap on the helmut then the pull signal again.... Most of the time, that's enough. If that doesn't work, that's the time you pull your own finger and fart. - -My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry...
