Daizey 0 #1 October 20, 2003 I broke my foot while running about 3 1/2 weeks ago...right after my last jump. Im a student and unfortunately tomorrow marks day #30 since last time i jumped. My foot is healing nicely, but I'm not gonna be able to jump again for about 2 weeks. I know that losing currency typically means i would have to repeat the level before. What I am curious about is combining the two levels. The last level I did was just being released by my jumpmaster. The next level is just 180 degree turns. Would it be practical to ask if after the release I am falling stable to be able to do the 180 degree turns? I know it depends on the jumpmaster but is stuff like this typically allowed? *daizey*
freefalle 0 #2 October 20, 2003 Talk you your instructor about combining levels, it can be done. Many people are able to combine levels and complete them early, its just going to depend on how comfortable you are in the air and if you can accomplish the required skills before the hard deck established by your jump master. Good luck
GroundZero 0 #3 October 21, 2003 Don't forget... you've been away for a while.... how much work do ya wanna do? .... keep it fun (even if that's simpler) and you'll do much better. Chris It's all about having a good time. Right?
jumpgod 0 #4 October 24, 2003 depends on your instructor but normally an unlicensed jumper must redo a level of AFF for a recurrency after 30 days. it's best to try to accomplish AFF quickly without breaks as this will help you to remember the feel and balance of freefall and you won't have to regain currency."dude, where's my main?" littlestranger 0 #5 October 26, 2003 I broke my ankle on Labor Day, and will be jumping again on Halloween for the first time since. I have to repeat my level 4 jump and take a refresher ground school. At first I was a little upset about going backwards, but as I get closer to 'the day', I'm glad my JM is looking out for me. I also thought about doing 4 and 5 together since the only difference is 90 degree vs. 360 degree turns, but after some consideration I realized it's going to be stressful enough just getting out of the plane. Daizey 0 #6 October 26, 2003 Quoteit's best to try to accomplish AFF quickly without breaks I hadn't planned on there being a break...either in my foot or in my training! QuoteI also thought about doing 4 and 5 together since the only difference is 90 degree vs. 360 degree turns, but after some consideration I realized it's going to be stressful enough just getting out of the plane. The only reason i am considering combining them is because level 5 was just toe taps and being released. There was nothing else to do on the jump and there was plenty of time left. So i figured that perhaps i could get my 180 turns in -but only if the jumpmaster felt as if it would be ok and i was falling stable enough to do it, if not...it would be ok. Thanks for the "heal fast!" went to the doctor the other day and its healing...slowly...but i should be back in the air in abo ut 2 weeks! *daizey*
