BikerBabe 0 #2 October 24, 2003 Here's a start. tailor it for AFF rather than FS, though. http://www.dropzone.com/safety/articles/Visualizing.shtmlNever meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
Designer 0 #3 October 24, 2003 TY babe.Gonna talk to her instructor about this.It has to help her get past her worry. If she is seeing the picture right in her mind she will eventually get it right in freefall. There is no need to keep repeating if your mind isn,t painting the right picture for you?(correct)? BikerBabe 0 #4 October 24, 2003 good visualization works wonders, really. I would stress that visualizing herself doing it right is the key. Also, if there is a particular thing that happens on every jump for her, perhaps anonther good use of visualization is picturing herself dealing with the problem in the proper way. For AFF, I would stress that her mental state while visualizing is very important as well. If she visualizes tense, she'll BE tense. It will really help how calm she is if she visualizes herself being calm during the skydive. Also, the more details she can add into her visualization, the better. i.e. the feel of the air on her hands, the look on the face of her instructor, the smile on her face, EVERYTHING contributes to a more realistic visualizastion, which will help her have a more successful skydive.Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup! andy2 0 #5 October 24, 2003 it worked for me for my AFF. My instructor threw a whole bunch of words and phrases and stuff that I didnt understand what it meant, then he said the magic words, "take a few minutes and VISUALIZE the dive flow, go through the entire skydive in your head..." etc etc. Worked great for me. I think it probably depends on the person a lot, but most people seem to think visualizing helps them especially in atheletic things like skydiving... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... sducoach 0 #6 October 24, 2003 Before the very first jump. A very powerful tool if used correctly. Blues, J.E.James 4:
riggerrob 643 #7 October 27, 2003 There are two ways to visualize: externally and internally. Which method to use is a personal decision. Some people are better at seeing the formation - from the camerman's perspective - and the outside of their red jumpsuit and the red jumpsuit turning to the next point and taking the grip, etc. Other people find internal visualization more helpful. Their best visualizations involve seeing their hand take the grip, feeling the tension in their arm muscles as they take the grip, feeling the wind press against their chest and seeing the sun glint off the bald spot of the guy on the other side of the formation, etc. The more detail you can imagine while visualizing, the better you will skydive. The coach's job is ensure that the junior jumper visualizes the correct formation. The best training techniques include a bit of external visualization and a bit of internal visualization, tailored to the individual's personal learning style.
