B Liscense aerial performance requirements

Recommended Posts

(1) demonstrated the ability to perform individual maneuvers (left 360, right 360, backloop, left 360, right 360, backloop) in freefall in 18 seconds or less

I just looked up the specific requirments... and found this for my B liscense. I expect to have my liscense before these 2 weeks are up. All these maneuvers I have found very easy... and I am very percise with them. However I've just found this requirement and I have not tried to incorporate them in this combination.

Do any of you find it hard to do a sequence like this in a specific time frame? I don't think it will be a problem thinking about it... it just seems a short time frame to do these maneuvers.

Brandon.

What is it, something like 3000 feet?

Like 6 sec to 1000feet, so if you can do that between 12k and 9k your gtg. If I remember fall rate right.

Congrats on the 'ease' of doing a 'style set' ...if you ever enter competition, anything over 16 seconds is scored as 16, ie: that's the max score. Shoot for 16 in your tests. advanced stylists can do this in 6 (yes SIX) seconds or less. Do a search on 'style'. In Canada for a B we also need to be able to do figure 8's in back or sitfly too (no time) and a "manouver series" L360 R360 FL BL LBR RBR in 16 or less - this is actually harder to do than a style set. But, once you master all 3 axes on your belly, flying life is geneally a lot easier.

The average fallrate will be a bit faster because of the maneuvers. I believe the average fallrate for belly to earth position is 5.5 seconds per 1000ft, I would venture to guess that after the maneuvers, it will be more like 4.8 to 5 seconds per 1000ft on average.

What will probably take the longest are the backloops and even those will take a max of 3 seconds. and if your turns 360's take 3 seconds, you might want to figure out how to go faster. Mine are usually around 1.5 seconds I'd guess. Anyway don't worry about it. If you're not able to get it done in the time frame, you may not be ready for the license. But you will get it eventually.

I haven’t seen the new SIM yet but according to September Parachutist magazine you can complete that style series or “successful completion of the planned formation(s) on ten group freefall jumps;” I don’t know for sure yet but I’m hoping to use the 2-ways from Skydive University and some others to fulfill this requirement.
