ChasingBlueSky 0 #1 September 23, 2003 Cross-post from talkback. This Saturday Night a friend of mine was injured during a night jump. He broke his femur in two places (middle of the bone and up at the neck of the bone) during a no flare landing. This wasn't his first night jump and I think he has better than 800 jumps now....I did see his approach and landing - both were very conservative. He somehow misjudged his altitude and hit hard enough to break himself. It's not as bad as it could of been, so he is very lucky in that sense - and he is in good spirits. He had to have surgery Sunday Morning to get a rod and some screws in there - he is back home now. The recovery will have him out of work for some time, plus he has no medical coverage. Dr's want him to put no weight on the leg for at least 8 weeks. Team Funnel (which he is a part of - and one of the founding members) has decided to try to help Rodney (aka Sparky) thru this time by raising some cash. I was just a teenager and being uninsured and far from home was a lonely experience, I can tell you! Being uninsured also meant that it was certainly not a cheap experience. I've tried twice now to buy some tickets - but have been unable, as the system (paypal?) keeps rejecting me. Any ideas? JJ269J 0 #5 September 24, 2003 Sorry to hear about the accident I just bought 5 tickets, hope it helps. Everyone help a jumper out!!!!!! My father had a bad landing and broke some bones in his leg.
