Canuck278 0 #1 September 22, 2003 Hey just a quick question.....does anyone know if i would be allowed to jump in the US with a CSPA Solo license....? Steve Therapy is expensive, popping bubble wrap is cheap.
DeNReN 0 #2 September 22, 2003 Excellent question.......The new "solo" lic is close to being the old "A" lic whereas the new "A" lic has become a little harder. I was gona copy and paste the "solo" requirments but I am unfamiliar with adobe reader so here is the link http://www.cspa.ca/cspa/Students/CoP2001Mar16CDv2.pdf. [url] Having just gotten my solo and working towards my A...I would love to know how US DZ's would view my lic...as im sure many other students from Canada would. DeNReN 0 #7 September 23, 2003 Cool...come back to Hali and buy me beer!!!!....hehe....I'm working on a mighty FF weight. Hopefully we will hear back from some all knowing USPA type ppl who can answer your Q(and mine) about the Can solo lic holder's and there qualifications in the eyes of U.S. DZ's...or maybe a Canadian jumper such as Remster can try and field this Q
kingbunky 3 #8 September 23, 2003 ....bump... good question. i'm in the same position, played around most of the summer with my solo and might not have time to get the rw endorsement in the next month, want to go south over the winter."Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." Remster 30 #9 September 23, 2003 Quoteor maybe a Canadian jumper such as Remster can try and field this Q I'm too old for that one! lol... Solo didnt exist when I started, so I never enquired. My strong suggestion would be to aim to get your A licence. An A licence is pretty much a standard that will get you jumping everywhere. If you cant get the A between now and your planned trip, call the DZ you're planing to visit and see what they can do for you if you show up with a Solo license. Try to speak with the Head Instructor if you can. Several of the biog East coast US DZ (especially in Florida) get lots of Canadians, and some even have Hosers as senior staff, so they probably will be somewhat knowledgable with the new Canadian system...Remster

riggerrob 643 #13 September 23, 2003 Sorry, but CSPA's Solo Certificate is really only a local thing, not recognized outside of Canada. If you want to skydive outside of Canada, you really should complete your CSPA "A" Certificate of Proficiency. Rob Warner CSPA Instructor B & PFF USPA Instructor, etc.

DeNReN 0 #15 September 24, 2003 TY Rob....did u look at the requirments for the"solo lic" or not before ure assement.....where it is a new "pre lic"... would you expect a solo lic jumper to be asked to complete a AFF course at a U.S. DZ before being allowed to make a "solo" jump?? Personally...I plan on having my "A" before i venture out of my c-182 skydive world into the "hussle and bussle" of the large/frantic(seeming somewhat cut throat) DZ's.....(plz take that term loosly). But on the other hand, I take great pride in my newly obtained "solo lic" and feel quite cofident in my ability to self supervise myself..and apart from making a trip south to find out, I would dearly love to hear form some instructors or DZO's about there view on this subject. Thx and Blue Skies (edited to try and lessen the "solo"...ack!!...cant do it )
174fps 1 #16 September 24, 2003 Quote So with your CSPA "A" certificate of proficiency you can jump other than "solo" in Canada? SMiles The new "solo certificate" is similar to the old(pre 2001) A CoP. The new A CoP allows jumpers to do 2 ways with B CoP jumpers ( and above)with at least 100 jumps. andrew
smiles 0 #17 September 24, 2003 Thanx I have old A CoP (1988) CSPA and D license CAPS (1,300 jumps) So- to do anything other than solo jumps at a CSPA d.z. I need to get B CoP CSPA (may as well write C at the same time.) Don't let yourself get into this situation- it will "bite" you eventually. I want to travel my own country and jump- never alone my own province!! SMiles
