DeNReN 0 #2 September 22, 2003 Excellent question.......The new "solo" lic is close to being the old "A" lic whereas the new "A" lic has become a little harder. My strong suggestion would be to aim to get your A licence. An A licence is pretty much a standard that will get you jumping everywhere. If you cant get the A between now and your planned trip, call the DZ you're planing to visit and see what they can do for you if you show up with a Solo license. Try to speak with the Head Instructor if you can. Several of the biog East coast US DZ (especially in Florida) get lots of Canadians, and some even have Hosers as senior staff, so they probably will be somewhat knowledgable with the new Canadian system...Remster Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

If you want to skydive outside of Canada, you really should complete your CSPA "A" Certificate of Proficiency. DeNReN 0 #15 September 24, 2003 TY Rob....did u look at the requirments for the"solo lic" or not before ure assement.....where it is a new "pre lic"... would you expect a solo lic jumper to be asked to complete a AFF course at a U.S. DZ before being allowed to make a "solo" jump?? Personally...I plan on having my "A" before i venture out of my c-182 skydive world into the "hussle and bussle" of the large/frantic(seeming somewhat cut throat) DZ's.....(plz take that term loosly). But on the other hand, I take great pride in my newly obtained "solo lic" and feel quite cofident in my ability to self supervise myself..and apart from making a trip south to find out, I would dearly love to hear form some instructors or DZO's about there view on this subject. smiles 0 #17 September 24, 2003 Thanx I have old A CoP (1988) CSPA and D license CAPS (1,300 jumps) So- to do anything other than solo jumps at a CSPA d.z. I need to get B CoP CSPA (may as well write C at the same time.) Don't let yourself get into this situation- it will "bite" you eventually.
