Got My "A" Yesterday!

Recommended Posts

4 months, 29 days, and 28 jumps later, I finally learned to pack (that was really the hold up) and finished my A. I jumped it on a sunset load and guess what? ALL of us had to land off site - figures! We all just got drilled with 30kt wind all of the sudden. I was stoked tho - having knocked off a few 'birds' on one jump (jumped my first pack, landed off field, and completed my A card). Now all I have to do rent a trailer for all the beer I owe this weekend! ;)

is ya "A" license what ya get after ya complete your 9 levels of your AFF course or something else ?

No I doubt it, but all schools have different AFF programs to some extent. I completed AFF in July, and had "coached dives" since to meet some additional requirements on the A card.

Some things you have to do that were not listed/done in my AFF were 2 swoop and docks (my AFF required one), 2 hop-n-pops (one from 5500 and 3500 - only one (3500) needed in AFF), gear check another jumper, etc. You need 20 jumps (25 after Sept 30 - requirements change) too to get it; my AFF was also a 9 jump course.

I am just relieved to have gotten it... on to the B license!
