rocketfeuille 0 #1 September 26, 2003 I found this fullface helmet made by protec. It seems like a more cost-effective solution to fullface needs. How do you guys think it would work for skydiving? Any and all opinions are welcome. Thanks for your help. The visor would have to be removed, of course.
Blahr 0 #2 September 26, 2003 It doesnt appear to have the face covered. In other words its not a closed helmet. This kinda defeats the purpose, doesnt it? If you just want some additional coverage for your jaw and chin I guess it would be better than spending 2 or 3 hundred bucks.
pilotdave 0 #3 September 26, 2003 Those face shields come waaay out farther than the chincup of a skydiving helmet. I think it would catch a lot of air in freefall. The protection is probably a hell of a lot better than any skydiving helmet can provide, but it's definitely not a replacement for a fullface helmet. AndyMan 7 #4 September 26, 2003 It seems to be aerodynamically effecient only when moving horizontal against the ground, but not moving down. I would expect quite a bit of buffeting, simply based on the shape. Try and find something without such a pronounced nose. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
