Skydiving and pain killers?

Recommended Posts

Alright, so I bust up my (already bad) hand in an incident involving me, a car that apparently hadn't got any brakes and a driver that apparently had no wits.

I get some pain killers from doc - pretty weak stuff, codeine and paracetamol combination. They got a red warning triangle on 'em, so it seems there can be some reduction of abilities to drive a car.

Taken two, don't feel any different (except pain is reduced). Going skydiving in 5 hours or so - or planned to. Not sure it's a good idea - any hints/tips/general guidelines?

Hee.it's your life..don't ask permission from others if you're willing to take the additional risk.

Often in cartoons you see a string with a note that sais: "don't pull"..Then you see a silly duck looking at the sign...pulling it..and then a piano smashes on his head..result..big hole in the ground and a terribly headache...fortunatly the duck always survives

You know of course driving a car is much more dangerous then skydiving ..so I say..just do it...The worst that could happen is that your ability to drive a car may be reduced.. As you won't be in a car just ignore the warnings silly duck :).

Seriously..if you say that you are not sure yourself if it is a good idea, you should listen to yourself because you already gave the asnwer to your own question...

Its my personal opinion that if ive ever got ANY doubts about jumping, then I wont jump. Realising after exit that you made the wrong decision is not the best time for reflection!

If pain is bad enough that I have to take a pill, then I'm not jumping whether I take the pill or not. Only takes one "oops" to further injure what's hurting, then you're grounded for even longer (ask mouth about this one).

Personally I won't jump after taking any type of medication that might affect my reaction times or decision making.

Yah that's what I've been thinking.

Bah, bloody windy today anyhow, so no jumping.

Well if I was to jump only when I didn't feel any pain, I'd not jump very much at all. Old injury to the wrist is almost always acting up. I'll do as adviced though and not jump with anything that's been recently hurt.

take your painkillers and space out, enjoy. You can skydive in a week or so!

Look at it in the positive way (you'll be able to spend TWICE as much money next weekend as you could normally!).

Heheh Andy, yer quite right. unfortunately I have the bad habit of thinking like this:

"ooog poor poor me I dinnae get to skydive! What am i to do now?!?"

"Oh wait, I did save some money by not jumping. I could spend them on whores, booze and gambling!"

Chute: yah, yer right about that.

BAD IDEA BRO!!!!

Those are two words that just don't mix. It's like drinking and driving.... they just don't go together well.

It's not worth it. Be safe. Skydiving is not going anywhere. You can always skydive another day.
