Do You Forget Your Jumps?

Recommended Posts

Sunday, it was lunchtime so I thought I would log my three jumps of the morning and then eat and jump some more. I can't remember what I did on the first jump. I wasn't hung over or anything, I just can't remember. I was wondering if this happens to anyone else. (How can I jump out of an airplane and not remember what I did?)

same as towerrat, only if I don't log them for a few weeks... but my pro track gives me the speeds, so I can more or less remember what kind of jumps it was, and as I nearly always have the VDO, I can see what happened to me :P

I have approximately 150+ unlogged jumps:$I've keep the invoices/spent tickets as proof [Thank god]
Story is i jumped at anew DZ a few wks ago and CCI quite rightly asked to see my logbook. On opening it he had cause to question my currency etc.
Moral is to avoid a repeat i now log my jumps.

I figure about 300 I never logged for one reason or another, to busy, to lazy, jump was just a H&P,etc. Now that my active jumping days are behind I regret not being more dilligent. Sometimes I can look back on my log book to a jump done in 75 or 80 or whatever and recall it, if it was a good one, as if it were yesterday. Guess it would have paid to write even a short entry after each one.

I try to log after every jump. One of the best skydiving things I ever did was log my jumps. After 30 years it gets very interesting to go over old log books. You can never write too much about a jump. It is hard to know what will be significant to you 20 years from now. My website is the result of a recent decision to go over all of my logbooks, and summarize some interesting facts. It also brought back some wonderful memories.

Because it was a $99 boogie.. that's how. Don't worry Chris, you're not the only one. I know what jumps I made but I can't remember what order I made them... lol.

Ask some peeps at the dz.

yea... those are tough. My last one I made 24 in two days. Video + Pro Track = log book!

I do, so I went an bought a mini tape recorder, so I can run through the dive quickly, and not have to worry about forgetting anything. I've caught some crap from people for using it, but I now my main problem is actually logging what I have in the book and getting it signed.

Happens to most of us if we don't log them right away. Hell, I haven't logged anything in the past 6 weeks or so(and we're talking close to 50 jumps). I can tell by the speeds on the protrack what type of jump it was, and that's all I really care about. Quite honestly, I've failed to log a couple hundred jumps over the years....and have essentially lost them.

Thanks.. it's kinda rough but works for me.. I was thinking about adding special jumps and night jumps but haven't gotten around to it.. Also thinking about titling things better so others could use it..

Yep.. I was at 240 when I started jumping.. got down to about 215 and am now about 225... My equipment lost a little weight too.. B|

no, I almost never forget. I guess its a benifit of being at a C182 DZ, you always have time to log em.

I found that if I'm short on time, I will just put the date, altitude, and people I jumped with. then later, its enough to help me remember the jump, and fill in the details.
