Jumping With D-26

Recommended Posts

I experienced the highlight of my AFF career today. Bill Jolly (US D-26, Canada D-10, UK D-3), made his first skydive in over 25 years, and I was his Reserve Side AFF Instructor. Chuck Blue (SkymonkeyONE) gave him his training (basically a first jump course), Golden Knight Greg Windmiller (DALAILAMA) was the Main Side, and (LouDiamond) shot video.

Bill is 80 years old, and began skydiving in the early '60s as a Navy Rigger. He has over 3000 jumps, and is now back in the air because his Grandson Jeremy (a US Marine) has taken up the sport.

It was a real treat to skydive with him, and of course I got his signature in my logbook.

He agreed to do an interview of sorts with me via email, which I will use to produce an article of some sort.

I will post pics here when I get them next week.

That was by far one of my personal skydiving highlights to have been able to jump with Bill Jolly and the two of you(utes);) I did however fail to get his signature in my log book. I'll have to see if I can catch up with him later on. AWESOME day!

That's pretty cool. I had a similar experience when I had the honor of teaching a personal FJC to Anne Batterson, D-325. She has over 700 jumps on rounds and was part of the US Team in the early 60's. She went on to become World Champion in one of the events. It was basically a level 3 jump, which was actually her first jump on a square. On mainside was Doug Forth and Bryan Harrell was on reserve.

This photo was taken at this year's SOS at Skydive Elsinore. L-R on the attached photo is: Kim Emmons Knor, D-221, 1962 US Women's Team 1st Place, Jerry Borquin, D-22, 1962 US Men's Team 2nd place, Anne Batterson, D325, Lew Sanborn, D-1, and me, D-24499.B|

nice john, I was treated when I visited raeford the other day to get some risers and make a few dives by having my logbook signed off by D-167 and D-123. Really cool stuff, did D-26 get video with the jump???
