jumper03 0 #1 October 21, 2003 At least as far as I'm concerned anyways I have a 1.5 to 2 hour drive to and from the DZ and therefore have a lot of time to think (when I'm not getting pissed at the rude new england drivers ). I use the time to rethink my dives, what went right, what went wrong, what I want to do next, what my skydiving goals are, life in general, and I think a lot about rocks too..... But I wanted to share with you all what went through my head recently to see if anyone else agrees or if I'm being a mother hen. Anyway, I was thinking that under the old licensing requirements, I'd be only 30 jumps away from the C license right now. I already have the requisite freefall time and accuracy landings - mostly by accident I firmly believe (after all, even a blind pig finds an acorn now and then) but the big question that bothered me the entire way home this past weekend was - Given 30 more jumps would I feel qualified as a "C" licensed skydiver? Most assuredly not was the answer. Not unless some miracle of skydiving occurred over those 30 jumps which just doesn't seem likely. I still feel as though my skills are only just above that needed to pass AFF level 4 much less than having the same license as a coach! Still sooo much to learn, so many new things to experience. So thanks USPA for increasing the requirements. Will I feel the same way at 130 more jumps? Dunno, but I plan on having a blast finding out. selbbub78 0 #2 October 21, 2003 I agree with you. I got my B license in august with 50 jumps, and had every intention of doing night jumps. At 50 jumps i still wasn't landing on my feet most of the time, do most people at 50 jumps feel comfortable doing night jumps? I really don't know. I'm close to 100 now, and feel so much more confident about so much of the things that I do in the sky. Although i have all the license requirements (except for number of jumps) for my C license, I don't feel like I skydive as someone with a C license should. I feel that there is so much more i should be learning, and be better before i get that license. Granted, the license requirements is bare minimum, and you don't have to get the license at the minimum, but i still think it's a good idea to increase the number."Women fake orgasms - men fake whole relationships" – Sharon Stone "The world is my dropzone" (wise crewdog quote) "The light dims, until full darkness pierces into the world."-KDM
Squeak 17 #3 October 21, 2003 I think it has a lot to do with currenecy, if you did the next 30 jumps in a few days I'm certain that you would feel much more competant as a skydiver if you stretch those same 30 jumps over 12 months then your competancy would possibly be lower. I have 175 jumps in 14months, and I dont feel like I'm very competant, but when I did a learning camp and did a whole bunch of jumps in one week my confidence and competance increased heaps. Unfortunatley the camp was last July and I feel much less competant nowYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
