Hazarrd 1 #1 October 29, 2003 Ok, so in light of the recent post that most of you have probably read, I am curious to see how many people have actually decided not to jump because something came up during a pin check. If you select yes, what was the problem? Thanks. .-.
PhreeZone 20 #2 October 29, 2003 My bridle was once found to be not all the way reset. During packing it slid a bit and was showing as white. Issue was fixed in the plane with the door shut and by the time jump run came around issue was solved.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
BMFin 0 #3 October 29, 2003 Well, Yes and no... This happend on ground while student status: I got a pin check, and jumpmaster found my reserve pin less than 1mm fron coming through the loop. He said: "Hold still ! Dont move ! Go laying on the ground on your belly ! " I did what he told and I was thinking What the *uck ??!!! Later on he told me what was wrong, and Im glad he found it. BUT : This was on Vector 2 rental gear. I would not see this happening so easily on my own gear to me since I take good care of my own gear. Reserve pins dont do this by them self. Some one had abused the rental gear. Also I would consider my G4 reserve coverage a bit more safe than Vector 2. The only reason I didnt find it my self was becouse during student status I was told not to mess up too much with the "upstairs" of my rig. I dont do pin checks in the plane unless I have or someone else has abused my gear somehow. I do pay very good attention to my bodypositions and if anyone has touched my rig in the plane.. skydivejersey 0 #4 October 29, 2003 No. Most pin problems are easily and quickly solved enough to allow you to jump.
towerrat 0 #5 October 29, 2003 I do a thorough gear check on the ground. This eliminates the need to do anything but a rudimentary check ( main pin, chest strap ) in the air.If I get bumped around I my ask someone I know well to check my reserve, and I can check the main pin myself.-----Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
