Newbie question: Can you jump at any drop zone?

Recommended Posts

I have one level left before I graduate from AFF and I'm wondering.... can you jump from any drop zone you want to? I'm going to be flying up to Seattle a lot and want to jump there.

I would think that it doesnt matter where you jump.. but I dont know? I'm not sure if you have to be licensed before you just go jumping anywhere?

I'd suggest calling the DZ & asking them. Every DZ is different. Some want you to have a license, some want to check out your log book first if not licensed then go from there, it's all different. Some might require you to jump with an instructor there. Just call them & find out what they suggest you do........good luck!

Hi Dude, I jumped at 5 DZ's here in the northwest befor I had my A. In fact my first jump off student status was at a different DZ, just be upfront about your skills and have your log book ready. It helps if your a member of the USPA. I would highly recommend Kapowsin as a safe DZ.

once you have your A, it's a moot point since you can go anywhere. Til then, call the DZ and find out their policy ahead of time.

Besides, I don't think you'll be getting a lot of jumping in over the winter in Seattle anyways

Call around some DZs will let jump some won't. I made a tandem at one DZ, and did my first three affs at another, all wile in Ill. on a farm related trip(boy did I have a story to tell when I got home). After I got home and couldn't stop thinking about skydiving I called the closest DZ to where I live. The DZO was an ass hole on the phone and I almost gave up, but didn't and the next DZ (85miles away and a club not a business) was verry friendly.
