BETO74 0 #1 November 10, 2003 Hello all. I need I little help on a project, I’m running the video editing club on a high school in Florida we entered this short film competition sponsor by the entertainment incubator [http://www.eincubator.org/pages/2/index.htm]. We need to create a short film 5 min long on a given theme, now, here is where I need help the theme is “The twist”. I spend the entire weekend thinking of it, I can only get images of what a sample of a twist will be, like a flushing toilet, get the idea, what I really need is a script, A good idea that will get us start. I would love to do it about skydiving I have some friends that will help us shooting beside myself and it will be a great experience for the students to know about skydiving. Now since the theme can be pretty much anything since a way of dancing to a stunt in sky surfing I was thinking in something more conceptual like the “willing to fly” video were the script goes along with the skydive images, willing to fly is more like existentialism type of video, don’t know how to interconnect one with the other. Anyway if you have any idea feel free to respond. Carloshttp://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
WrongWay 0 #2 November 10, 2003 Well, in response to the "flushing the toilet" thing, if ya look on the film Crosswind, there's a scene with the Flyboyz when they fly with smoke, carving together, forming a spiral or "twist" of smoke above them. It's an awesome shot, and it'd be cool if you could get some flyers at your dz to maybe pull that off??? Just an idea. Good luck!!! BETO74 0 #4 November 10, 2003 That's a very good idea, maybe one has a white ff suit and the other black and they are the two sides of the main character, I still need a script. Maybe the story of a guy fighting with his good and bad side. Thanks, keep them coming http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
Bolas 5 #5 November 10, 2003 QuoteI have often described a funnel in skydiving as "being flushed down a toilet with your friends." So the video could be a 3 way or bigger. You just need people with a brown jumpsuit, a yellow jumpsuit, and a white jumpsuit. You could add a white one with red booties as well. I can see it now... Exit goes to hell, cue the toliet flush. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

There are probably a million ways to use "the twist," from the literal (a guy dealing with line twists) to the figurative (the story ends with a plot twist) to the literal/figurative combo (the plot twist is that the guy gets line twists). There are, of course, plenty of other ways to show a "twist" in skydiving besides line twists (spinning formation, twisted risers, etc.) If you find that you really can't come up with a story, drop me a line, and I'll try to throw some ideas at you.
