problem with S/L training?

Recommended Posts

S/L only starts as static line for the first 5 jumps in an 18 or so jump progression after that you begin to freefall and practice freefalling techniques. Some Dropzones do this differently than others. Mine gives more ff time to the static liner near the end of his her course so they have more time with the instructors in the air than traditional courses.

Have fun.. Be safe! Enjoy

Well I think I will be able to get the stability down better doing the S/L actually. Doing this is alowing me to get used to being up there. I am thinking that when it comes time to F/F I wont be as freaked out or uncomfortable with the situation so I will be able to relax alot more witch from what I have been told, will help me with my arch. Just one question though. With the S/L once i get to the free fall part is there going to be an instructor jumping with me to make sure everything goes ok? I know there wont be on the hope n pops but what about later in the actual F/F's? Just wondering because what happens if everything I have learned stays in the plane and I lose total control? LOL I guess i just cant do that huh? lol anyways thanx for all the great replys. I just hope im right, cause one thing I found that made a big difference from my first jump was that on my second jump I just tried to stay totaly calm and pay attition to what I was doing. Also soaking in everything i could to help me on my next jump. My biggest thing is safty and knowlage about what I'm doing here. I don't care about getting my license fast I want to get it because I deserve it. LOL I don't want to be like those karatee guys that are black belts when they should be blue belt that go into the ring for a fight with another black belt and get the crap beat out of them lol if you get what i mean lol. Thanx for the great post, you guys are great.

I'll tell you a story, which goes back to when I was a student. It's one of those "when I was your age, when our model t's broke down..." stories.

I learned through a Tandem-AFF progresion. I was living in Toronto, and driving to the US every weekend, because this DZ had both an Otter and did AFF... Both of which I couldn't get at the Canadian DZ's near Toronto.

Fortunately, Ontario DZs are modernizing.
Niagara Skydive Center - in Dunnville, Ontario offers both a King Air and Progressive Freefall training.
A few minutes farther down the road, you will find a Twin Otter and PFF training at Burnaby, Ontario.

Generally speaking, on S/L you don't have an instructor with you during the lower altitude jumps. The only instructors USPA allows to exit linked with you are AFF JM/Is. You may have a S/L JM with you once you go to the top.
