Tonto 1 #26 November 20, 2003 Yes, it's year round, every year. I started slow, in Cape Town, and it took 7 years and 2 months to get to my 1000th, and 11 years to do the next 3000. Things seem to be going much faster these days! tIt's the year of the Pig.

Things seem to be going much faster these days! t I SO did not need to hear the answer. Why did I ask? What am I, a masochist? Don't answer that. We have a comparatively short jump season here and we only got Cessna DZs, with the occasional Caravan/Beaver/Nomad/Otter (rarely) at boogies or competitions. Getting 200 fun jumps a uear means being at the DZ every weekend and pushing to be on the first and last lift. Can't begin to express my envy of people who can have turbines and skydive pretty much when they want. I need to move. But being an IT dude, to get a job I'd have to move to India and work for $2 a month. And the monsoon(sp) season there would sorta suck, too. 4000 jumps. Man. That's a LOT of time spent in and out of planes and around fellow jumpers. And you never have grown tired of it? Tonto 1 #28 November 20, 2003 Our DZ went turbine less than 2 years ago. Apart for some C-130 dives, and a year in the US, all my dives have been out of Cessna's, but mainly bigger ones, like 210's and 206's due to our surface altitude. I AM at the DZ every weekend, and from 1st lift to last. I have got tired of it sometimes. My 1st 1000 were 4 way, then I did a year of nothing but AFF and Tandem. Then I got into CReW hardcore, then flat out AFF with a few Tandems, and now I'm learning to freefly and doing some birdman. Skydiving is so big - and there is so much stuff to do and see - and so little time. I was 23 when I started - and I'm nearly 42 now. So little time! tIt's the year of the Pig.
