ianmdrennan 2 #1 November 17, 2003 Hi All, Can anyone recommend a dropzone in the Cape Coral area in FL? My father-in-law wants to take his wife for a skydive but I don't know the area well at all. My wife and I would do a jump or 2 there as well so one that caters to experienced divers as well would be appreciated. Thanks for your help. SkydiveNFlorida 0 #2 November 17, 2003 Hi, Ian. There is a new dz that opened up in Labelle called Skydive Southwest Florida. I haven't been there, but there is some info in the places to jump forum, that's about 40-50 miles from Cape Coral. Clewiston is about 72mi from there, also never been there, tho. Ron P from Skydive Tecumseh in Michigan just opened up a new dz in Pahokee called Skydive Southbeach. It is about 100 miles from Cape Coral. The people there are great, the vibe is just awesome. The lift tickets are 18$ to 13500 (tho sometimes we get extra alti:D ), there's more info on their website skydivesouthbeach.com and in the places to jump forum. I have seen them do a few tandems and there are students as well. It seems to be mostly freeflyers there right now:) Just opened a few weeks ago. No food on site yet, but awesome chow in the area. Good luck on your quest. Let us know where you end up. Angela.
ianmdrennan 2 #3 November 18, 2003 Hey Angela, Thanks for the info. We'll just be up there for a day so I'm not sure if my father-in-law would do a 100 mile drive. If so we'll go there but otherwise we'll check out some of the closer dz's you mentioned. Hope he's up for a drive though. Always wanted to check out the Pahokee area. SkydiveNFlorida 0 #4 November 18, 2003 Cool. Hope to see you there, then. I've been there every weekend. I'm sure your in-laws will have a blast no matter where they go. But, an especially awesome time in Pahokee:D take care. Angela.

Myabe next time. Clewiston is a great dropzone, and we are sure you had a great time. They are a top notch dropzone. Any dropzone that states "they allow hook turns" has opened themselves for a wide variety of conquences. We so not condone or recommend hook turns. However, skydivers still continue to do them at our dropzones, and not with our blessing or permission, but they still do. As long as they take their own responsibility for the skydive and their landings, that is what we are trying to get across to the skydiver. The skydiver also must realize that, we do not allow them, and if they then do them, that is their problem when a hook turn goes bad. If you choose to do a hook turn, afer we told you not to, at any of our DZ's and you get injured or die "we told you not to do them" Your choice, not ours. I understand that not all dropzones like performance landings and I certainly don't hold a lesser opinion of yours for that, or any reason. The skydiver also must realize that, we do not allow them, and if they then do them, that is their problem when a hook turn goes bad. Of course I agree with this. I just got the impression from the "forbidden" tag under hook turns that they were unacceptable and I am not in the habit of breaking a DZ's rules - whether or not I agree with them. I'd hope (although I know it's not always so) that a licensed jumper is responsible enough to know that they, and they alone, are responsible for getting themselves to the ground safely. Either way I wish you guys the best.
