WInd tunnel

Orlando tunnel is excellent even on 27 jumps, if you can get an hour in there you should jump more like you've got 100 real jumps (at a reduced cost). If you can get hold of somebody like Thomas Hughes even better.

I went to an Airspeed Tunnel camp when I had around the same # of jumps as you. Dollar for dollar best training money I spent. The tunnel allows you 2-3 min of working time, instead of 60 sec. To me it provides a less stressful learning environment. Have fun!

Spend as much time in there as you can afford. For starters, the tunnel coaches can do well by you, but if you're going to spend more than a half hour, get an individual coach. You'll go back to your dz and they'll be VERY surprised at your skill level (especially if you don't tell them you were at the tunnel).
It is never a waste of time to go to the tunnel, no matter how many jumps you have. Airspeed, Army, Majik, etc... still go to the tunnel to train, they have many thousands of jumps (some over 15000), and still learn and progress individually.
It is much like freefall, without the time constraints and danger.

Is it worth going to with only 27 jumps?

yes. it is most definitely worth the trip to the tunnel. it is effective for people in all stages of their skydiving 'career.'

if you want specifics regarding how the whole thing works, prices, etc, PM me (i work there). bring your USPA (or equivalent) card. reservations are required, too.

Do a search on the wind tunnel here. Lots of posts.

Short of it - only people who haven't gone or just did a very short stint don't like it (mainly because it showed them how much they needed to learn and their egos couldn't take it). Everyone else approves and learns a ton.

As a short timer, I think it's even more important. They have training for basic/advanced RW and freeflying, so it's all good whatever kind of flying you want to learn.

You can't lose by going. Hire a coach if you can. Write Ron, he sounds good.

Well, I don't think they'll let you do a consecutive hour's worth of tunnel time, but if they did, it'd probabaly cost at least $700. I know 10 min is around $160 and 30 min is somewhere right around $400. For exact prices, give them a call. They're all great people and will tell you what you need to know!

$550 per hour between noon and 5pm M-F (but i would NOT recommend you do this because you'd have to fly 1 hr straight and it will kick your butt)

$600 per hour all other times

$185 for 15 minutes

$135 for 10 minutes

$38.50 for 2 minute ticket

$28.50 for uspa members for 2 minutes
