EricaH 0 #1 January 8, 2004 So, I'm traveling from the frigid tundra of Chicagoland the last week in February. My s/o & I DO NOT want to be cold @ all during this time but we're also on a budget (that is no Brazillian travel ). There's the Mardi Gras boogie that looks fun, but I do not want to suck it up & be cold. We have friends heading to Lake Whales, but as a child of Florida, I know that it can be rather chilly that time of year. I'd just LOVE to break out my tevas & shorts !! Where do we go, if you pick other, please let me know which one. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. ChileRelleno 0 #2 January 8, 2004 I'm from Goldcoast and I've never had a problem with it being "Cold" during Mardi Gras, now problems with rain and clouds is another matter. I voted for "Other" because California has some great weather and Elsinore rocks! Stacy 0 #3 January 8, 2004 i'd say florida. check out zhills. it's been in the 70s throughout the christmas boogie and the days are getting longer now, yahoo! if you are on a budget, that's limiting to probably domestic travel with major airports. tampa intl and orlando intl are fairly cheap to fly into. FL is warmer through the nights than arizona is and i think even socal is kinda chilly (at least to a floridian) this time of year. Bo was here from chicago last week and was wearing shorts all day and night. __
BigWaveDave 0 #4 January 8, 2004 I second Z-Hills. We've had great weather the last couple of weeks, and by the end of Feb it shouldn't be too cold here.“If you hear a voice within you saying, ''You are not a painter,'' then by all means paint… and that voice will be silenced.” - Vincent van Gogh
FallingAngel 0 #5 January 8, 2004 I'd say Z-Hills too, there's a good chance Tomas and I will be out that way mid-end of Feb...so we might bump into to you! My birthday is at the end of Feb so that'd be an awesome way to spend it!
EricaH 0 #6 January 8, 2004 Z-hills, huh? We were thinkin o lake wales, cause that's where Amy & Dennis will be. But they're so close to eachother, the time would be split, I'm sure. My concern bout FL is that from growing up there I know that Jan/Feb is colder than Dec/Jan. Also was there last week in March last year & it was barely warm.... wore jeans & sweatshirt most of the time. I know it's very warm now, my parents won't stop complaining . Since we'd be camping if AZ's nights are that much colder, that's def an issue. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. skyyhi 0 #7 January 8, 2004 I'm voting for So. Cal also. . .we've got Elsinore, Perris and San Diego all within an hour's drive of each other. . .the weather is warming up and the sun is shining brightly today. . . Also, Jet Blue has some GREAT fares for flying around the country. . .If ya end up in So. Cal. . .look me up in Elsinore. . .________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy
caress 0 #8 January 8, 2004 Erica, If you are acclimated to "Chicago" Anywhere that is 10-20* higher than Chicago is going to seem warm to you. However, I suggest Arizona-Eloy,Coolidge,Muiretta, or So. Cal. Elsinore, Perris, San Diego.Hope you find one that is right for you.-Caress I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right.
Reginald 0 #10 January 8, 2004 Don't think about Houston. What makes you think it's warm there this time of year? I'm in Dallas but the weather is fairly similar. Personally, I'm traveling to Z Hills once a month because 75 and sunny is much better than 50, cloudy and windy here in Texas. Z Hills rocks... PS: airfare to Orlando is very cheep from most major cities."We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." AndyMan 7 #11 January 8, 2004 My vote is so-cal. I was there last new years, and spent the days in shorts and t-shirt. Night-times were ok for camping with a single good sleeping bag. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
gemini 0 #12 January 8, 2004 I agree. Problem with Houston is it can be 85F one day and 40F the next and 70F the third this time of year. You just never know. Blue skies, Jim
EricaH 0 #13 January 8, 2004 Well, that just sucks. The decision is made... going to Florida. S/o want's to go where we'll know people. Yahoo... I wanna go NOW though . There is no can't.
