I'm confused- Please help

Recommended Posts

Ok, I've done 2 S/L jumps, I want to get to a stage where I can jump FF anywhere.

I'm off to Morocco at the end of February and want to jump while I'm there.

Should I...
start AFF from scratch
Progress with S/L training

What is the minimum level that would allow me to do this??

AFF will get you graduated quicker.

You really shouldn't start freeflying in your first month. You likely won't be that competent by the end of February.

Just take the classes and get working on your license requirements. It'll happen if it's meant to.

No matter which instructional methodology you choose, You must complete Category F to be cleared for solo's and/or Coach jumps.

Both instructional methodologies are internationally recognized, so no matter where in you are in your training, you should be able to continue on your path.

Some DZ's have different "internal" programs so you might want to check before going somewhere else.

Best advice I can give you is to be assertive to completion in whichever program you choose. You "should" be able to get your "A" license before the end of February.

If your thinking Spain, the obvious choice is Empuria, they don't do RAPS (S/L) there only AFF.

And to convert from RAPS to AFF you can go from CAT5 to AFF level 3 or you will need to start again.

If you do AFF or RAPS, once your CAT8 you can apply for you A licence, then you shouldn't have any trouble jumping any where in the world as long as only want to do solo's.

Freeflying by then end of feb is just not going to happen. (did you mean freefall not freefly?)

Hi - I did my RAPS training in the UK, converted and did level 1 over here as the price of S/L training was deducted from the price of the jump(as there is a big overlap in training)
Then completed AFF in Empuria - static line just wasn't the way forward for me - some people get through it, love it and highly advocate it.
Personnally for me AFF was infinitely superior and I probably wouldn't have made it through S/L without quiting.
If you go to Spain - you also get the joy of sterling/euro exchange rates which make it cheaper, and I can't stress enough how great Empuria is.

I did mean 'freefall'
I'll give empuria a try, that weould be cool if they deducted my S/L training.
The reason behind it all is that I checked th eDropzones link and the only DZ in Morocco listed only does AFF.
But, thinkin on it, I could probably do some jumps there anyway, no matter what level I attain before going.:)I do totally believe in self preservation, so I'm not gonna run before I can walk, so to speak
