Packing Video Suggestions Needed

Recommended Posts

I've got this crazy idea of making a cool PRO packing video. One that holds your attention. Any serious suggestions would be appreciated. What would have helped you more? What don't you want to see? Do you want to know all the parts of the canopy or by the time you learn to pack do you already know all that? Do you want hot tips like - take a pull up and tie the risers together to keep them straight. Or do you just want to pack and get it in the bag and closed?

I could really use help with a name for it too.
Thanks in advance

Ohhhhh I've got LOTS of suggestions - but I'd better keep it to the serious ones here.

I think that skydivers would get the most from a packing video if the demonstrator was a scandelously dressed hottie I would watch it over and over - It would have made it A LOT easier to learn pro packing.

As a packer who teaches a ton of newbies to pack, I don't think there really is a way to make it attention-keeping. You have to keep in mind that there is a slight variation to how people pack as far as tying the risers together, lines over one shoulder or another, techniques to flaking/bagging, stowes, etc. Just some things to keep in mind..

Slow motion footage of canopies opening!

Get real good opening footage and break it down for the viewer... Understanding the "mess" of fabric and lines is made so much easier when you understand the dynamics of deployment and opening.

Cool if, once you've taught how to pack, you could explain "Do this to slow the openning... Do this to speed up the openning." and then show slow-motion footage of the different openings.

i.e. "See how rolling the tail gives you a few more moments before the tail whips back exposing the rest?"
