Ad lib... If the (temperature on ground) <= ___, then (NO jump).

I would argue that during my first 3 or 4 years jumping I would have jumped in any temp. Now-a-days, it's 60 or above. ...

That's me.

Not going to argue you point, cause I couldn't have put it better.

Egad that would cut the season here in Seattle down to about 2 months of jumping.:P

They made a big deal that we had 63 consecutive days of temperatures above 70 degrees for highs for the day... an all time record.

Yesterday it was quite nice 50 on the ground 30 degrees at altitude the air mass here is usually fairly warm coming in off the Not-SO-Pacific Ocean. But in the winter here when it gets clear.. it gets cold... in November there was one day I glanced at the thermometer on the Cessna after a couple other jumpers got out.. and it was some ARCTIC stuff up there. -20F... with a sitfly at 160MPH plus my hands were almost useless from the wind chill when it came to pull time.. My light leather gloves and liners were just seriously inadequate for that.

It's not just the boys that are crazy... there's some of us crazy chics out there too! If the plane will fly... I will jump.

made my last jumps when it had -15 C one the ground (whatever it is in fahrenheit). in 6 k it had cuddly 2 C in 14 k it was -10 C (whatever it is in fahrenheit again). plane was nice & warm so it was no prob getting out. landing in snow was nice - so i guess it's never to cold to jump B|

Summer skydive gloves with thin Walmart fabric liners provide me with enough warmth down to about 30 degrees F on the ground, and still allow enough mobility to fly the canopy. This also assumes that there is not a really steep temperature gradient going up to altitude that would amplify the cold in freefall.

I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane.

If the wings of the plane ice up, then its time to stop walking long them!

If you jump in UK then you can't get fussy about temperature - if it ain't raining, you just have to get out of the plane!;)

Ontario here, as long as your dressed for the cold temp doesnt matter. i have to say and this may sound crazy but having no door on the plane feels better than flying with one. when you do a ceiling check and the pilot says the clouds are too low you can thank him for the advice and then get the f-ck out! Once your balls freeze they dont get any smaller.

I live in the Midwest and jumped through December until we didn't have a plane. I know about getting out of a plane when it is hella cold.

For those of you who are looking for a good pair of gloves cheap, check out the Mechanix brand sold at autoparts stores. Failry Cheap, ($20 US IIRC), very good dexterity and pretty decent in cold weather if you use a little expoy to seal the small vent holes on the fingers.
