crwmike 0 #1 February 1, 2004 Flying to Pureto Rico in a couple of weeks and taking my flotation gear. I read the TSA web site and they prohibit "compressed gas cyllinders' as either carry on or checkin. Will the CO2 cartridge in my flotation gear be a problem? riggerrob 643 #2 February 1, 2004 Hee! Hee! There is a "compressed gas cylinder" under every seat in every airliner. It is part of the flotation vest. Sounds kind of hypocritcal for the Feds to ban "compressed gas cylinders."
wrightskyguy 1 #3 February 1, 2004 Yes, taking your floatation gear will be a problem. The CO2 cylinders are prohibited, they will make you remove them and throw them away. You best bet is to ship them ahead of you or buy a new cylinder once you get there. John Wright John Wright World's most beloved skydiver

Michael I flew from CA to NC for the Kitty Hawk jump and took 4 sets for flotation with me. I shipped the CO2 cartridges ahead to CSS addressed to myself. I packed a "return" label and roll of shipping tape in with them. When we where done, I packed them back up and Nancy Fayard was sweet enough to ship the out for me. (Thanks again Nancy) As John said, if you show up at the A/P with them, they will make you remove them and then you will have to deal with "red flag" treatment. You might think about buying one once you get to Puerto Rico. SparkyMy idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

So you're saying we shouldn't go out and pay 80 bucks for a "Sterns Inflata Belt" but instead rip off the ones under our seats when we get to our boogie destination, right? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.
