gerryfuss 0 #1 February 6, 2004 1) What is the best place to get gear at the best deals? 2) I've been searching, but can't seem to find any websites or stores that sell Skydiving equipment based out of Canada. Anyone know of any?

benny 0 #3 February 6, 2004 There are several DZ.commers, SkyBytch for instance. I think JP sells gear too. And since Bonnie is out of the country at the moment, don't forget her either, Gravity Gear Never go to a DZ strip show.

pilotdave 0 #5 February 6, 2004 I dunno about canada, but The Skydiving Outlet-Deland has had the best price on every piece of equipment I've gotten quoted that I could find. The customer service has been... well... pretty unbelievably great. I'm waiting to give my full review till my container actually arrives at the end of the month, but lets just say I'm happy with them. PM arlo! kitof1976 0 #6 February 6, 2004 Buying gear is like buying anything else... Many places, many deals, many ways, many choices. Shop around, make a budget, study your gears and figure out what you want. I am not sure if you are looking for new gear or if you are considering used gear also. Shop around and don't take advice from someone trying to selling you something. Your question is hard to answer because you don't mention what you are looking for. It kind of like asking: Hey I need a car... where can I get a good deal on one? If you don't mind spending an extra few hundred box I would suggest you support your local dealer. skybytch 273 #8 February 6, 2004 QuoteIf you don't mind spending an extra few hundred box I would suggest you support your local dealer. That's excellent advice, imho... At least give them the chance to earn your business. Sometimes a local dealer can provide extras that an "online" dealer can't - things like free use of demo/rental gear while yours is being built, acting as a "middleman" in a used gear transaction, etc. Up to you to decide if those extras and face-to-face service are worth paying a bit higher prices... and generally the prices aren't that much higher. pilotdave 0 #10 February 7, 2004 That might be true at the big DZs, but generally not the case at the little places. I tried to buy my container locally but found out they are only dealers for mirage and sunpath. I believe I got a better price, and better service by shopping 1000 miles from here. I'll bet that would be more true as you keep going farther and farther north. Dave

Zeemax 0 #13 February 8, 2004 I found the The Skydiving outlet Deland had the cheapest prices around. I think you must have seen retail prices. Call them, speak to the WONDERFUL arlo who kicks ass at customer service and price. or speak to Lisa at the drop shop sebastian, an equally awesome person. These are the only two places i buy gear from and i live in the UK.Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies

I agree with the above... Supporting your local gear shop is IMO the best thing to do in most cases. They will be of much more use than a website and be there if you need experienced advice, or help where an email address just cant compare. Ordering some stuff online is not bad, and can save you some money. If you do though, just remember your local dealer for part of the rig. Most local dealers are not that much more expensive, if any. My experience is that my local dealer (skybytch at drop shop) is priced right with the online stores, and I know when I get measured for a jump suit or rig that it will be done right. She also has been a great help when deciding on specific fabrics etc based on what I am doing specifically.Oz
