aka47 0 #1 January 14, 2004 Both going and coming home from San Diego this weekend! Both time it went thru the x-ray machine. I guess they were too busy trying to match the picture on the card that CYPRESS now gives new owners that shows an x-ray pick of a rig to the video of my rig. Nobody gave me nore than a second look. Hmm, so much for security. I remember when I could take my 4" folding knife on board....I swear this place is turning into a police state.. Gee, I got an idea....let's give up all our liberties in exchange for government security...no thanks I'll just carry a couple extra mags for my battle rifle, thank you Mr. govt agent. Now FUK OFF. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>America is a Constitutional democratic REPUBLIC, NOT a democracy! AggieDave 6 #2 January 14, 2004 Remember, the TSA folks aren't really paid to care. They're barely paid at all. So, all you'll get is when they're having a bad day, they're going to go out of their way to take it out on you. (oh, the last time I flew, in 1998, I had my 3" fully serrated combat folder in my pocket. The security guy at the metal detector actually said "nice knife" as he handed it back to me when I walked through).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Synapse 0 #3 January 14, 2004 I think the solution to all of the problems with the airlines is to just hand out fully loaded AR-15's or AK-47's at the gate when you're boarding. Then again they could just use those spiffy bullets that only penetrate flesh, not metal. -This has been another installment of "Crazy Rantings", by syn

jumperconway 0 #5 January 14, 2004 Leaving Houston to Perris I carried my rig on in a small duffle bag. After x-raying it they pulled it aside to inspect the bag, feeling all around the rig, I offered to take it out when he came up with my Jack Knife hook knife. I forgot it was in the bag and explaned to him that it was only to cut parachute lines and he said no problem and put it back.
BirdWoman 0 #6 January 14, 2004 Damn, you got off easy. When I was flying from Denver to Tuscon for the Holiday Boogie in Eloy, TSA gave me more hassle about the damn knife than they did the cypres. They gave me the choice of throwing it away or mailing it to myself, so I looked at the knife and asked "Do you have a phillips screw driver? Why can't we remove the blade, you keep the blade and I keep the knife?" So they did, and I did, and it cost me a whopping 27cents for a new blade at Eloy."I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
beavdog 0 #7 January 14, 2004 I made it thru with mine on the way to Brazil from Kansas City...they did make us unpack our mains for some reason though. figures...we will see how it goes on the way back Here's to the Breezes that blows through the Trezzez..... sammer 0 #8 January 14, 2004 They have pulled mine out twice (since Sept. 11) and both times let me keep it after determining that it had an "enclosed blade" and was not a hazard. I don't think it should be any big deal but some of those guys are dicks. Who would be dumb enough to try and hijack a plane after Sept. 11 anyway? rjf98 0 #9 January 14, 2004 I would prefer double action pistols because they are simpler and less likely to accidently be fired, but I agree with your solution. Fact is, that if that were the case on Sept 11th we wouldn't have had more than one plane crash into the towers if even that one. Sure a few innocents on the plane would have died, but they could be counted as heros, and not like the poor souls who simply died in the towers without having a chance to fight back. I remember when I could take my 4" folding knife on board....I swear this place is turning into a police state Most of the hook knives I have ever seen would be hard to use as a viable weapon.. unless you were literaly using it on a pencil neck
 turnlow 0 #11 January 14, 2004 I have easily taken my hook knife on planes a dozen times or more. I have yet to be questioned about it or the rig. My guess is that it's my trusting face... _________________________________________________It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.
