EDYDO 0 #1 February 23, 2004 I saw something on the USPA BOD Agenda sheet about considering some changes in the pro-rating to accomodate smaller faster canopies. Does anyone have any detail on this? Ed

PhreeZone 20 #3 February 23, 2004 Rumor mill was talking about higher insurance fees for smaller canopies. Its not accomodating them, its making them pay a higher price for the same insurance as the canopies at <1:1 are paying. Makes sense... if you file the insurance claim and are found to be on a canopy not on the form then the claim is invalid in my thinking.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

quade 4 #5 February 23, 2004 Ed, lemme ask you, cause you've peaked my curiousity. How your accuracy -- on ram airs? I noticed that you're asking for a PRO Rating waiver to the 500 jumps on ram airs. With your numbers, et al., I suppose you can land on a dime, but I'm curious about your ram air landings.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
quade 4 #6 February 23, 2004 Higher insurance fees for smaller canopies . . . well, I guess that means no one will be jumping the smaller canopies then. I wonder what the cut off will be?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
EDYDO 0 #7 February 23, 2004 Quade, I have a 305 Challenger that I use for accuracy and while I am not a competition accuracy jumper, I can put it in close enough for any demo that I may do, every time. I presently have 68 demos with no screw ups. (knock on wood) Ed

All the injuries at the Bangkok demo that I heard about were on larger canopies; they were more affected by the (unexpected) wind and turbulence. Had these new insurance rules been in effect (and if we'd needed insurance) there would probably have been more injuries.
quade 4 #9 February 23, 2004 So, then, why the need for any sort of waiver? Just to get around the 500 ram air jumps, huh. Ok. I can accept that.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
