WFFC 1 #27 March 8, 2004 QuoteI mean just look at my friend Peter who came about 15-20 feet away from impacting one of these slurry bombers while in freefall two summers ago. It's also good to note that the slurry bombers were no where to be seen after they saw the video... BTW, there is a plan in the works to build on the other side of the runway so you'll (me when I move back) be able to walk back into the hanger from the landing area.----- ~~~Michael

Yes this will be nice. But it's still a couple of years out. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
livnbored 0 #29 March 9, 2004 Well I know at Skydive new england If you land on the other side of the runway, you cross it, but it's a private airport, and at X-Keys if you land on the other side of the airport, (out) you have to cross the runway... Are you sure this FAA guy just doesn't know the rules in accordance to skydiving operations? Sometimes don't they just give DZ's a hard time because they know a damn thing about skydiving...? riggerrob 643 #30 March 9, 2004 At Pitt Meadows we normally land on the North East corner of the airport and walk straight to our packing hangar. However, if you are slow on exit, you will land in the middle of the airport. Then the drill is to walk to the edge of the mown grass and wait for a car to pick you up. Air traffic controllers get annoyed if you walk across runways or taxiways without permission. Though it was a bit amusing one day when winds were 20 gusting 25. Both tandems landed off the normal landing area, in the middle of the airfield. ATC got annoyed when we walked across the cross-wind runway. Hee! Hee! As if any pilot in his right mind would try to land with a gusting 25 knot cross-wind when there were two other perfectly good runways pointed straight into the wind.
