devcloud 0 #2 March 4, 2004 We aren't thinking about making a little trip down to the BCPA southerns are we? According to multimap, Pewsey train station is the nearest at about 7 miles? If you can get down the night before, you could come to bristol and get a lift in. P.S. Do you have your crossfire 2 yet?
vt1977 0 #3 March 4, 2004 Nearest station would be Pewsey - a taxi will set you back around £10. (you will be able to get a number for a taxi company on www.yell.com) There are also buses from Pewsey station to Netheravon village (have a look at www.wdbus.co.uk) and also buses from Salisbury - town centre not railways station - to Netheravon village. Hope that is helpful! Vicki

vt1977 0 #5 March 4, 2004 I’m pretty sure Pewsey is on the line from Bristol… If flying into Gatwick, you can get a train to Guildford, then Woking and then onto Salisbury easily enough. If flying into Heathrow, the Heathrow Express to Paddington and then straight on a train to Pewsey. Vicki
Dave1216 0 #6 March 10, 2004 Nether's is between Salisbury and Pewsey. Pewsey is a small unmanned train station with infrequent trains, in my opinion, in the middle of nowhere. Salisbury is much larger and is generally, quite easy to hitch a lift. Many taxi companies don’t like the Pewsey/Upavon area, and so tends to be more expensive. The above is my opinion. thelem 0 #7 March 10, 2004 I live in Portsmouth, and I normally get the train to Bristol/Cardiff and get off at Salisbury (no changes). Going to Pewsey involves 3 or 4 trains. From salisbury, I either hitch a lift or get a bus. IIRC during the day there are busses to Netheravon village, but after 6pm or something the nearest bus goes to the Stonehenge Inn. Don't forget your FAI either, without it (or APA) you won't be able to get on the base.
mr2mk1g 10 #8 March 10, 2004 Ah, like sam said - just get of the train at Bristol, we'll pick you up from there and you can crash at ours - we'll get you the rest of the way.
