Newbie 0 #1 March 11, 2004 i know this comes up a lot, and i did search but wasn't able to find anything on my situation. Im a renter but dont have contents insurance, hence my rig is not covered. What i want to know is definitively who i should get insurance from before going to the US next month when i take my rig with me? I would like to hear from any people in the UK who have got it insured through their travel insurance, where the main is recognised as a separate piece of equipment - in case it gets chopped and blows into the next state etc. Most travel companies insure ONE item for max of £500 i think, so they might argue the entire rig and contents incl. CYPRES is worth no more than £500 - which of course is not what i want. Thanks all! Edited to add: PS on a side note, can anyone who rents in the UK recommend a GOOD CHEAP insurer - i really should i guess get contents insurance, but i never got round to it. Thanks again! gus 1 #2 March 11, 2004 Lots of people insure their rig through Harrison Beaumont. I used to but don't bother any more, it was quite expensive (~£180 a year for all my kit). As for using normal travel insurance the advice on here before has been to get a letter explicitly confirming that your main/reserve/container/aad are considered seperate items. Newbie 0 #3 March 11, 2004 thanks Gus - so what do you do now with regards to insuring your rig when you take it abroad? Use regular trav insurance and just get them to type something out saying that each canopy/part is separate and of separate value? If so, who do you use? Thanks! Newbie 0 #5 March 11, 2004 LOL ok I just spoke to Airportz (sp?) as advertised in the mag - they dont do anything other than a yearly premium for cover - which is £5 for every £100 of value plus 5% tax - which works out to be about as much as home contents insurance! Gus another one for you - do you have home contents insurance and if so, you might find your rig is covered under that. gus 1 #6 March 11, 2004 QuoteGus another one for you - do you have home contents insurance... I rent/house share and have no insurance at all. That's life on the edge for you. If you figure anything useful out post it here so we can all see. GusOutpatientsOnline.com

At the moment it's looking like unless i can find a regular insurance company to cover me for the 2 weeks i'm away, i too will be dancing with lady luck by the light of the moon etc "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
Spike 0 #8 March 11, 2004 I took annual travel insurance with AXA Direct, if you take it out a week ahead on the web you get the best price. But this excludes cover on your rig. To get that covered I took out contents only cover (I'm also a renter), again with AXA, but what it costs you will depend on your postcode, property and the value you place on your "single max claim" item. gremlin 0 #10 March 14, 2004 I really do recommend AXA. They do a good cover on travel insurance though I have my kit covered through a separate contents policy. Still cannot understand people who travel to jump in the USA without medical insurance.I'm drunk, you're drunk, lets go back to mine....
Zeemax 0 #11 March 15, 2004 yup, with AXA as well. Used to use Comubus direct as they were very cheap, but they dont cover skydiving any more. Apparantly we're a high risk I dont have any insurance on my rig either, no do i have any form of contents insurance. Does anyone know of somewhere that would cover just the rig?Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
