First skydiving expierence...

Recommended Posts

I figure that I should share this story because maybe some of you were there, and otherwise its pretty entertaining...

Two years ago my family and I were going on a road trip out west (I'm from Michigan) and we ended up stopping just west of Boise, ID to visit some family. From their back porch I could see countless jumps over a few days and it was torture because skydiving was something I'd always wanted to do and I was so close but the 'rents wouldn't have any part of it. So I told the parents that I was going on a bike ride and rode 11 miles until I got to the dropzone, and on the first glance I could tell that you guys are CrAzY! I'm 18 at the time, so the beer thing is new to me and the second I walk in the fence someone hands me a cold one. There's food everywhere (its the close of the day) and music and everyone's having a good time. All the sudden someone says 'Here they come!' and everyone rushes to the fence overlooking this field where a lone old car is parked. A plane flies overhead (cessna) w/ a helmeted head poking out, and he drops a bowling ball out of the plane and it smacks into the car! It was halerious, they made a few more passes, throwing paint cans, and even a toilet. I spoke with a bunch of people and I decided that the sport was deffinately something I wanted to be a part of.

Later that week I made my 2 static lines at skydown skydiving in Caldwell, ID. The DZO's name is Paul and he is a great guy, he's got a bad ass dog too. Man that was great. This summer I'm finally getting a job which is going to allow me to afford to get my A, and I am extremely excited to do so.

Anyway, if you were at a boogie near Boise, ID summer of '02, I saw you there! HA!
--- and give them wings so they may fly free forever
