loopysteph 0 #1 March 31, 2004 Forgive me, and send a link if this has already been discussed, but I got a letter from parachutist selling me AD&D insurance that covers skydiving. Does this mean that my insurance that come from just being a member is officially over?
Remster 30 #2 March 31, 2004 QuoteDoes this mean that my insurance that come from just being a member is officially over? If by that you mean the 3rd party insurance that comes with most membership (USPA, CSPA, etc), its completely something else. 3rd party insurance covers the damage you may do to someone's property during skydiving activities (ie landing on someone's car and damaging it). ADD (accidental death and dismemberment) covers you in the case of, yes, accidental death and dismemberment.Remster
PhreeZone 20 #3 March 31, 2004 The insurance you recieve as a member is Third party damage insurance. Basically if your cutaway main falls onto powerlines the insurance will pay the repair bill to the power lines type deal. The AD&D is an outside group offering a policy that includes skydiving. Totally seperate things they protect you from.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
loopysteph 0 #4 March 31, 2004 OK, thanks for clearing that up. Do most people get extra? My SO says its unnecessary, but I some money would be nice if my arm get ripped off in my risers or somethin.
dove 0 #5 March 31, 2004 You might wanna double check all the fine print. I remember getting one of those but after reading the requirements I decided to forego getting it. Something to the tune of you will only receive payment if you lose one eye and one thumb, or your ear and your arm from at least the elbow down. I got the impression that if anything ever happened to me they would find a way to get out of paying up. Fall in dove.
loopysteph 0 #6 March 31, 2004 That figures. I hate insurance. -but i LOOOOooooooVE skydiving!
Nightingale 0 #7 March 31, 2004 I have AD&D insurance through work that does cover skydiving. I pay about $5.00 extra a month for the AD&D insurance. For me, there's no need to get more outside insurance. My health insurance through work also covers skydiving accidents.

Remster 30 #9 April 1, 2004 QuoteBut, what about when you are jumping abroad at non USPA DZ at boogies etc. Do you have anything covering that then??? Check with your coverage. USPA membership of a DZ has nothing to do with this. Unless its specified in the insurance doc, but that would surprise me. Read the insurance documentation that came with your USPA membership. I'm not a USPA member, so I have no clue if it excludes certain countries. It may. I know some contries equivalent exclude coverage in the US due to le letigagious environenment there (ie yanks do nothing but sue every thing that moves lol) I know you're not in the US, so you dont knoew either. If I was a betting man, I dont think the 3rd party coverage from USPA membership excludes any contry. But check.Remster
