Bodyflight.Net 0 #51 April 26, 2004 Tunnelrat is like any other group, PMS, Muff, etc.. You earn it after you accumulate a variety of VWT's and fly in a prop jobbie with one from our original group, it's a fun way for us all to get together and learn from eachother. In fact we're taking a group with us to the WFFC to get their #'s.. (we're doing 4 tunnels in 4 days) Our organization leader, my husband, has been training flyers & skydivers since the early 80's, and if I remember correctly, while he opened SkyVenture for Bill in 98, Eliana was part of the original crew he trained and hired, so yes, I'm familiar with them, and I see Thomas regularly at the DZ, and they have amazing talent for sure!! (of course I could be wrong about Eliana's time frame @ skyventure, but I am sure she was there before John's contract was up and we left so I did know of her way back then) I won't defend my answer to the original question here.. we are certainly involved enough around the world to understand the dynamics of our market, and I offered a professional opinion that is absolutely relevant. Ron 10 #52 April 26, 2004 QuoteTunnelrat is like any other group, PMS, Muff, etc.. You earn it after you accumulate a variety of VWT's and fly in a prop jobbie with one from our original group, it's a fun way for us all to get together and learn from eachother. In fact we're taking a group with us to the WFFC to get their #'s.. (we're doing 4 tunnels in 4 days) Well some of us use "Tunnel Rat" as a way to describe a person who has a large amount of tunnel time. You have made a sub group. Thats cool, but I don't have to agree to that same definition. So I can still call a person with tons of tunnel but not a number issued by you as a "Tunnel Rat"...Maybe the people I am thinking about are not part of your group, maybe they are...But by mine, and by others definitions...They are tunnel rats...Just maybe not card carrying members of your club. QuoteI offered a professional opinion that is absolutely relevant Yes, but this is how it went down. You said: QuoteThere are just some skydivers who are anti-tunnels And I agree with that assesment. However I added: QuoteJust like there are tunnel rats that don't like skydiving You took offense to that. While you may think I was slamming your card carrying group. I in fact am using a definition that many people use. And stating an observation that I have had...One that has been supported by your own words. Quote..... and that's why I stick to vertical wind tunnels for my flying, no need to risk my life for a really awesome flight!!!! You didn't like me questioning your authority in this area: QuoteI'm sorry, I didn't see the question about "Could a DZ survive on tunnel flyers alone?" I must've been mistaken, I though this thread was about Skydivers & VWTs... which I replied that while you opinion was valid, so was mine. You instead, decided to try to discredit my opinion by claiming that no one in the "Know" knew me (The "being in the know" by being known by your friends...Not exactly scientific research) QuoteThat's odd, I asked around.. and no one knows who you are..??!!?? And this just made no sense: QuoteBesides your a skydiver, how can you "know" people who hate you? I have to be honest, I don't really follow that sentance at all. Then you ASSUME that I am talking about you: QuoteTunnelrats are a very small group..if there is a group of another tunnel rats, I haven't heard about them.. besides I'm the only one on DZ.com with that in my sig line, so you MUST be talking to me. Then you try to slam me by bringing up the past posts...posts which you argued with me as much as I did you...But I guess Im the bad guy right? I don't follow your logic at all."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
