JJohnson 0 #1 April 28, 2004 I just found out that a friend died recently from a long term illness. His name was JR from Texas and I really only know him from the LP boogie. He was a cool guy and I will miss him. I didn't know if this had been posted already. BTW he was one of the Texas boys, I think he jumped at San Marcos. Brains 2 #4 April 29, 2004 JR did jump with us at SSM. He is a wonderful person and was always willing to help out a newbie. The dz social director sends out e-mail updates twice or so weekly, I know there will be a memorial jumping day for him soon put on by Marshall, and Rick, (other tx boys that frequent lp) I will find this thread and let everyone know when that is if you are interested. BirdWoman 0 #5 April 29, 2004 I have revently posted under the wingsuit forum on this, thread is "bird has permanent wings". Anyway, I had taught JR to fly the wingsuit at LP last summer and, like all of us nylon crack addicts, fell in love with flight. He has now received his permanent wings and will always be one of my wingmen while flying the suit... racer42 0 #6 April 29, 2004 JR passed away quietly last Friday. He was the guy that led me down the garden path into a twin bonanza and out the door from 12,00 feet. He taught me how to skydive the right way, the fun way, the safe way. Three years and 225 jumps later, and I'm just as excited by skydiving today as I was that first jump. What a gift. I'll miss him. JJohnson 0 #7 April 29, 2004 I thank this sport for allowing me to meet good people, enjoying fantastic times while performing beautiful dances in the sky......or fucking zoo loads...whatever, its all good. JR, Marshal, Ricky and the other Texas boys were always a welcome sight when I hit LP. Wish I had gotten the chance to jump with him at his home DZ.JJ "Call me Darth Balls"
