Got My I - a Few thanks!!!

Recommended Posts

Got called on it last night -

This weekend I took the Three Day Static Line I course from Sducoach at Freefall Express in Mount Vernon, MO. I was the only SL candidate there, the rest doing their IAD ratings - Since Sducoach was the only evaluator with the SL IE rating, I got a lot of 1 on 1 instruction and coaching from him.
The amount I learned from the course was humblilng, at best. We had to hussle to fit the course into three days, and I wouldn't be suprised if other courses went into a fourth day. It was a much more Involved course in comparison to the Coach Course, and I am not ashamed to say that I had to work my butt of and keep my head about me to make it through.

Well, I passed the course and now have my I. I wanted to post this here and publicly thank Sducoach for the course and for his hospitality - and thank him for making us work and perform at the high level he expected. That was not an easy course by any means..... I am confident that after passing his course, I am prepared to deal with the challenges and responsibilities of being an Instructor. That course was an eye opening experience for me. I know that his Signiture on my card recommending me for the Rating means a lot....Thank you.
On another note - the People and atmosphere of Freefall Express Skydiving was beyond my expectation of a Dropzone. Very seldom do you see a Dropzone so open to out-of-towners and I felt very welcome. Heck, I was suprised when I was given a copy of their End of the Year video, to see myself on it a couple of times!!!
As for the beer I owe - It's already been purchased as I was already called. I bought a hardly lager - a brew made from the finest ingredients: Carbonated Water, High Frutose Corn Syrup, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Carmel Color, Caffiene. (I'm a non-drinker....:P)

Speaking from the shoes of someone who went through the AFF course with sducoach, it's nice to know he is kicking butt at instructing students with rigor. Ah yes, we were exposed to no less as AFF candidates with all of our evaluators, especially Range Louda. There is a story behind his name "Range" but my story behind it was this guy had a fall rate of 90-140 on his belly. They say "Dress for success" in the AFF-I Course. Well, Range had one jumpsuit and one jumpsuit only. He had owned it for 22 years and you could tell cause the thing was patched, torn, and worn as all hell. Range is a slender, strong, lengthy guy, German, thick accent, a little on the intimidating side as an evaluator and could spin like a blender at whim. I can bet that J.E. and the rest of us who went through that course at SDC will have high standards at instructor rating courses. >:( But hey, that just reflects better on you!

Congratulations on your Instructor rating. It is an awesome accomplishment and a most rewarding "job". B|
