Checking rig on ATA airlines

Recommended Posts

Any advice for checking a rig as luggage? Already visited TSA and USPA websites, just wondering if anyone has any personal experiences they would like to share for future reference.

Don't check it as luggage; carry it on in a backpack. I travel a lot with my rig and have only been tagged for a close inspection once. Once I explained what it was, the inspectors were satisfied. My wife's tote bag gets more attention. I have heared several horror stories, however, about checked rigs that had reserve cables cut when being inspected behind the scenes when the owner was not present.

There are MANY threads regarding this topic. Do a quick search...and read carefully what good things to do when travelling with a rig. (ie. Make sure you have a cypress card with you and be vigilant in watching the search.)
