Adriandavies 0 #1 July 6, 2004 Canopy control, particularly low turns, seems to be a big factor in accidents. The USPA seems to have reflected this in their requirements for the A licence as this now requires braked turns amongst other things. Some of these requirements are the same as the BPA IC1 but they have to be demonstrated before getting the A licence. IC1 has to be passed before getting a British B licence but there is no time limit on the time taken to get it ie you can have your A licence and be jumping with just the basic AFF canopy tuition even if you have a 100 or more jumps. Does anyone know how effective the changes to the USPA licence have been in reducing accidents under canopy? Do British skydivers think similar changes should be made in the UK?
