4th of July Wildwood PST Beach Boogie

Recommended Posts

I wanted to talk a little about my 4th of July long weekend experience at the Wildwood PST Beach Boogie. Things didn’t always go as planned during my 4+ days in Wildwood. The fun jumpers had to compete for slots on the Porter after the Skyvan went back to Crosskeys on the weekend to a replace a broken Otter. Plus Mother Nature also decided to mess with us what with her winds and her clouds. So that didn’t help. And because of all of this, some PST rounds were canceled and many of the fun jumpers seemed to have left Wildwood early. But I had a great time nonetheless and got to see the best high performance canopy pilots in the world do their thing.

One of my younger brothers and a nephew are in Wildwood, NJ this summer working on the boardwalk and I hung out with them as well as their friends late in the evenings and I got to see these young people’s perspective, who are working the pier, concerning the boardwalk and the people who visit it. But what was best about my weekend was that I met some great people, I experienced some awesome visuals what with jumping onto the beach with amusement park rides to watch and the whole boardwalk atmosphere. And I ended up doing some really neat things in the sky with some good people.

I would like to thank all the folks from Crosskeys who made a jump with me in one form or another (Johnny, Jimbo, Dave, Clark, Bert, Stuey, Matty, Doug, Storm, Adam, Will, Elisa, Sarah and Tom). Plus I got to make some fun jumps with Alex and Jeremy from Raeford as well as Jessie from the Ranch. I made 17 jumps in the 4 days of jumping that I was there for (not bad considering the weather, the lack of a big airplane on the weekend and a 30 minute drive to the airport from the beach). I made 8 Skyvan jumps, 5 Porter jumps and 4 Helicopter jumps (including a ride from the airport Sunday morning in the Helicopter to the beach at 1k above the ground). I got to meet two new DZ.COM people while I was there. Dave otherwise know as Vertify was there and Elisa know to us as Dove was there as well. But I’m a little bummed that I now find out that Freeflybella was at the Boogie and I would have liked to have met her. But I didn’t. Anyway, it was also cool to renew existing friendships with the DZ.COMers who were there that I had met before. On the downside, I would have liked to have watched more of the PST rounds. But between myself jumping and Mother Nature canceling some rounds. I will have to be contempt with what I did get to see. Finally, I would like to thank John (DZO of Crosskeys), Jack, PJ, Becky, Mel and Kimmy as well as any others who were a part of organizing and supporting us jumpers this weekend. I did so many cool things and those memories will forever supercede any negative things which may have happened. I hope that the Wildwood PST Beach Boogie returns next year and I hope to return.

Oh and on my way back to JFK to catch my return flight home yesterday. I had some spare time so I stopped off at ground zero where the World Trade Center once stood and paid my respects to those who's lives were lost on that horrible day.
