turtlespeed 226 #1 July 20, 2004 How - what - why - where - who? I think I was involved in a world record jumplast weekend. How do I know what the criteria is? I mean - I want to not say the wrong thing in all of my "It's all about me" conversational bragging. If it is unofficial and stiull a record - then I need to know that. I would like it more if it was SOLID world record. Are there time limits on the grip holding? HELP!I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
Remster 30 #2 July 20, 2004 QuoteAre there time limits on the grip holding? Not anymore, but it has to be witness by offical judges, and you need a sporting licence... sucks to be you turtle dont it! lolRemster
teamhypoxia 0 #3 July 20, 2004 The FAI keeps track internationally of world records www.fai.org there's a checklist of requirements there It's impossible to "accidentally" set an official world record as all the participants must have an FAI or NAA license and international judges must be present. Of course that doesn't mean you didn't set an unofficial record so.... what was it?
turtlespeed 226 #4 July 20, 2004 Second generation Skydive - (parents and children jumping together) I just did the video - I am not lucky enough to have parents that skydive. 13 way - 13th person docked briefly and then the formation was keyed a bit early.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

RogerRamjet 0 #6 July 20, 2004 I feel your pain. I was on two world record skydives in 1975, both without video (film then) or stills though there were certainly many witnesses on the ground for both jumps. Deland: 16th in worlds first completed 16 man diamond (the hard way, all 16 jumpers facing the same direction since no one knew any better). Z-Hills: 19th on worlds first 20 man papillon. Would I like it if they had been filmed? Sure. Are they still world records? Absolutely! ----------------------- Roger "Ramjet" Clark FB# 271, SCR 3245, SCS 1519
FlyinseivLP2 0 #7 July 20, 2004 How were you on any jumps in 1975 if you have only been in the sport 8 years?

nightjumps 1 #9 July 21, 2004 Another scenario might be like mine where I actually started jumping for the military in 1980, started skydiving in 1981-1990 and tthen took a nine year break for college and such. So while I started jumping 23 years ago, I only count the actual years "In the sport."
Squeak 17 #10 July 21, 2004 I'm hoping to be on a World Record Attepmt in October. "World Reord Formation Skydiving NUDIE way"You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? pccoder 0 #11 July 21, 2004 As it should be. I'm sure plenty of folks say they are in the sport longer than they actually are "in" the sport. PcCoder.net
upndownshop 0 #12 July 23, 2004 I think we can claim an unofficial record, and my mother witnessed it so we can easily send it to Gueniss (sp) Book of World records. It was still pretty cool getting sons, daughters and grandson's of skydivers together in one place, the last time/place I have heard of anyone trying that was in Fl. a few years ago and only 4 showed up. We will do it again and my goal is a 20 way, we had seven not show up this time but I know of at least a dozen in Texas alone. Nice job on video, do we have stills?
